Highlights

  • Dead by Daylight's latest DLC collaboration with the Alien franchise is a big success, showcasing the developer's passion and integrating the source material effectively.
  • With the Alien crossover well-received, it seems only natural for Dead by Daylight's next crossover to be with the Predator franchise, given their intertwined history and comparable popularity.
  • The Predator would make an ideal addition to the game as a Killer character with potential special abilities including the use of ranged weapons and heat vision, and a map set in the Central American jungle.

While it may not quite be on the same level as a game like Fortnite when it comes to the sheer number of crossovers, Dead by Daylight has had a healthy number of collaborations over the last six years, the vast majority of which have been of excellent quality. Though he's been left in the dust a bit, Dead by Daylight's first crossover Killer Michael Myers was a solid start for the game, integrating the source material well with Dead by Daylight's mechanics. Since then, Dead by Daylight's crossovers have only continued to grow more ambitious, with the latest maybe being its best.

Released just a few days ago, Dead by Daylight's most recent DLC is a collaboration with the beloved Alien franchise. Going truly above and beyond, this $12 DLC adds both a new Survivor, Ellen Ripley, and a new Killer, the Xenomorph, along with a new map available for all players that sees the Nostromo ship from the first Alien movie crash-land on an alien planet. With Alien content now in the game, there's one big horror franchise that seems like the only natural choice for Dead by Daylight's next crossover.

Dead by Daylight's Next Crossover Should Be With The Predator

The titular creature stands in a dark wood, arms spread to either side.

The crossover between the Alien and Predator franchises can date its origin all the way back to 1989 when the very first Alien Vs. Predator comic book was released. This comic predates even the second Predator movie, which came out in 1990, and itself features an Easter egg of a Xenomorph skull. Since then, the two beloved horror franchises have frequently crossed over, whether it's in the surprisingly great PC video game series of the 1990s, or the disappointingly bad movie series of the early 2000s. Wherever Alien goes, Predator isn't too far behind it, and that makes the latter a perfect candidate for Dead by Daylight's next crossover.

Though it's still early days—with the DLC having only launched on August 29—Dead by Daylight's Alien crossover is very impressive, and the developer's passion for the source material shines through at every corner. Though she's a bit overpowered right now, the Xenomorph's abilities and perks are the perfect way to integrate the character into a multiplayer video game setting, referencing the source material while still making it all functional and fun.

It seems only fair that Predator should get this love too. Though the Predator franchise has had its fair share of misses, it's also had plenty of hits in its time, and it's gained a fanbase that's definitely comparable to Alien's. That popularity makes Predator the next logical crossover for Dead by Daylight, and there's plenty of source material to draw inspiration from when it comes to creating a Killer, Survivor, and franchise-specific map.

Of course, any potential PredatorDead by Daylight DLC would put the iconic Yautja hunter front and center as the main attraction. When it comes to giving the Predator Killer a special ability, there are a ton of different options Dead by Daylight could go for. The Predator's special ability could be the use of ranged weapons, such as the Smart Disc, shoulder cannon, or Combistick.

It would also make sense for the Predator to be able to use some form of heat vision, potentially to track Survivor footprints like Rainbow Six Siege's Jackal. The ideal Survivor to come with the Predator would naturally be Arnold Schwarzenegger's Dutch, though it might be difficult for Behaviour to get the rights to use the actor's likeness. And when it comes to choosing a map, the first Predator's Central American jungle would be ideal.

Dead by Daylight is available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
