2v8 Is Less Competitive, "More Of A Party Mode"

As the name suggests, Dead by Daylight's new "2v8 mode" sees eight survivors take on two killers, who are able to work together and use their abilities to benefit one another. The mode was described by Dead by Daylight design director Matt Spriggens as having a less competitive focus and more of a fun, "party"-like atmosphere. The larger number of players encourages chaos, and survivors can choose classes and equipment rather than being limited to certain Perks, allowing them to specialize in offense, healing, stealth, and much more.

When the mode launches, most of the game's survivors will be immediately available for players to select. Initially, there will be five killers to choose from: The Trapper, The Wraith, The Hillbilly, The Nurse, and The Huntress. Larger versions of existing maps will also be implemented, allowing players to experiment with the new mode without feeling too trapped or crowded.

Three DbD Spin-off Projects Are Currently Planned

In addition to the new game mode, three Dead by Daylight spinoff projects are also being worked on. One, a multiplayer party game developed in-house at Behavior Interactive, has already launched and will be available for free for a limited time with a Behavior account. Following this period, players who missed the free version can purchase the game via Steam. Other spin-off projects that will expand the world and lore of Dead by Daylight are in development at other studios.

Developed and released as an eighth anniversary surprise for the fans, What the Fog is a two-player cooperative roguelike that sees survivors Dwight, Claudette, and Feng Min sucked into a cursed board game. Working together, players will have to take down hordes of enemies in this fast-paced, chaotic title featuring an adorable cartoon-inspired art style. Currently, What the Fog is a PC-only title.

Project T: A New Experience In Early Development

Project T is a third-person, session-based title currently in development from Midwinter Entertainment. Set in a realm called The Backwater, players have to work together to use the weapons at their disposal to take down a variety of monsters. "Unlike the survivors in Dead by Daylight, [players] get to fight back" hinted Midwinter Studio Director Mary Olson. While Project T's release is still a ways out, an insider program is currently available. Interested players can sign up to participate in play tests and receive early news regarding the game's ongoing development process.

The Casting Of Frank Stone: A Chilling Story-Rich Title

Lastly, the previously announced The Casting of Frank Stone is still in development from Supermassive Games. The branching, single-player title expands the world of Dead by Daylight by introducing the town of Cedar Hills, wreathed in cosmic mysteries centering around the titular mysterious murderer, Frank Stone. Although Stone himself has not yet been introduced as a killer in Dead by Daylight, Supermassive Games executive producer Tracy Tufte feels that "it would be a fair conclusion to make" that this spin-off villain might make his way into the main game.
