Despite being its 7th year up and running, Dead by Daylight feels even more alive than it ever has been before, coming hot off the heels of an electric 2023. While 2023 definitely saw its fair share of bugs, broken Perks, overpowered Killers, and controversies, Dead by Daylight still had a pretty great year on the whole, with a slew of new Survivors and Killers coming to the game, including a huge crossover with the Alien franchise, a smaller one with Child's Play, and the triumphant return of the long-missed Stranger Things crossover DLC pack.

But 2023 is now over, and it's time for Dead by Daylight fans to look ahead at what this new year holds. Thankfully, the future looks very bright for this long-running horror franchise. Heading into its 8th anniversary, Dead by Daylight will not only continue to receive regular updates as usual, but will also see the release of a new spin-off, one which already shows a lot of promise. With Alan Wake already set to debut as a survivor on January 30, Dead by Daylight is kicking off 2024 with a bang, setting high expectations for an exciting year of content.

2024 Could Be One of Dead by Daylight's Best Years Ever

Dead by Daylight Already Has Half of 2024 Mapped Out

Right at the end of November 2023, Behaviour Interactive announced a roadmap for the first half of Dead by Daylight's 2024 updates. Between January and March, fans can expect to see some new quality-of-life additions, with the biggest being the implementation of an FOV slider and a solution to the controversial 3-Gen Killer strategy that's plagued the game for a while now. The Onryo, Hillbilly, and Blight will also receive some tweaks and updates, along with a handful of Perks like Quick Gambit, Grim Embrace, and Save The Best For Last.

Between March and April 2024, Dead by Daylight fans can expect to see some big changes related to the Mangled status effect, along with some tweaks to the Sloppy Butcher Perk. A total of six Killers are also slated to be getting some tweaks during this period, including The Demogorgon, The Hag, The Pig, The Clown, The Doctor, and The Huntress. Then finally, between April and June, the Bloodweb will apparently receive some quality-of-life improvements, while The Twins will get some tweaks, and the Perks Ultimate Weapon and Decisive Strike will be updated. Of course, all these update windows are subject to change, and there'll presumably be another slew of updates coming in the second half of 2024.

Dead by Daylight is Sure to Add Even More Killers and Survivors in 2024

While Behaviour Interactive has only confirmed its general update roadmap for the first half of 2024, it seems guaranteed that Dead by Daylight will receive another handful of Killers and Survivors this year. Generally speaking, every year usually brings with it four Dead by Daylight DLC packs. While some of these can be smaller affairs that just come with either a Killer or Survivor, there tend to be at least a few large-scale expansions that include both, along with a range of cosmetics. There's also been a trend in the last few years that's seen two of these four DLCs contain crossover characters, though there's no guarantee that'll be the case in 2024.

Dead by Daylight's Spinoff Will Release in 2024

By far the most exciting Dead by Daylight event of 2024 is the release of the upcoming The Casting of Frank Stone spin-off. Being developed by Supermassive Games, the studio behind Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology, and The Quarry, The Casting of Frank Stone is set to be a narrative-focused spin-off set in the Dead by Daylight universe, designed for both complete newcomers and long-time fans alike. Though an exact release date hasn't been given, The Casting of Frank Stone is slated for a general 2024 release date right now.
