As part of the trinity that features Superman and Batman, Wonder Woman is on par with these iconic characters for not only DC Comics but the entire superhero pop culture. Wonder Woman is a beloved and iconic superhero, and a symbol of truth, justice, and equality. Wonder Woman protects the world from injustice in all forms, and if that includes a fatal swing of her sword, so be it.

8 Triton

dc comics character triton

There are perhaps no families as dysfunctional as the godly pantheons. The Greek pantheon had Triton, an Olympian god, and the son of Poseidon. As a claimer of the seas, Triton was more of an Aquaman villain that a Wonder Woman one. Although, since Wonder Woman was part of ancient Greek mythology, she has a history with the character.

When Ocean Master kidnaps children from Themyscira and murders them all, Wonder Woman is rightfully enraged. Aquaman manages to stop her from killing Black Manta but is not able to stop her from killing the man that orchestrated such an attack. Triton caused this and had his neck snapped by Wonder Woman, and with the thanks of Poseidon.

One such battle became fatal, as the White Magician sought the power of demons at the cost of his soul. Provided by her friend, Artemis, Wonder Woman was given the Gauntlet of Atlas, which provides the wearer with 10 times their normal strength. She used this power to beat the White Magician within an inch of his life, but he was soon consumed by his demonic powers and incinerated.

6 Von Bach

Although a character worth no notable fame, Von Bach was seen in the famed Elseworld comic Kingdom Come. The comic itself saw the Justice League return after decades of absence, and show the new age of heroes and villains what the true Justice League is capable of.

However, as Diana has spent years back on Themyscira, the older and wiser Wonder Woman has no time for games. To save the son of Zatanna, Zatara, Wonder Woman stabbed the character called Von Bach and killed him. This was to prevent Zatara’s death, and show how serious she was about defeating the new unhinged metahumans.

In the alternate universe comics, Injustice, Wonder Woman, and Superman teamed to create a villainous regime of former heroes, to control the world in their image. The Flash may be responsible for the alternate timeline of Flashpoint, but no one is more responsible for the destruction of Earth, torn between the war of Amazons and Atlanteans than that of Wonder Woman and Aquaman. The two had a secret affair, one which Queen Mera discovered.

Mera confronted Wonder Woman about the affair, and in response, Wonder Woman decapitated the Atlantean Queen. Sending her head to Aquaman, was a declaration of war, and one of the many examples of how brutal Wonder Woman can truly be.

3 Ares, God Of War

With the New 52, Wonder Woman saw Ares, the God of War, as somewhat a mentor. The two had an ongoing feud as they grew apart, especially when Wonder Woman entered the world of man. However, Wonder Woman finds herself in battle with First Born and Ares, and runs a pike through the two of them, killing them both.

Ares praised Wonder Woman for his murder, and she soon becomes the new God of War. This hasn’t been the first time Wonder Woman killed Ares, and isn’t even the first Greek god that she has killed. Wonder Woman certainly has a confusing relationship with her Olympian relatives, as she is the daughter of Zeus.

2 Maxwell Lord

A character with a rich history in the DC Universe, Maxwell Lord was a great threat to not only the Justice League but the entire world. Maxwell Lord’s powers also included telepathically influencing people. This mind control could be a great threat to the greatest heroes. Lord used his powers to mind control Superman. In his controlled state, Superman beat up Batman, and even attacked Wonder Woman.

Using the lasso of truth, Wonder Woman bound Lord to tell the truth on how to free Superman from his rageful attacks. Lord, only able to tell the truth, tells Diana that he has to die to free Superman. Wasting no time, she snaps his neck and kills him.

From the pages of an alternate reality, in which Batman and Superman are groomed from a young age to be evil dictators that rule the Earth, Wonder Woman does not see her greatest allies in the pair, but her greatest adversaries. Ever the compassionate hero, Wonder Woman tries to reason with the two but is unsuccessful.

Wonder Woman uses her sword to stab Batman in the chest, and kills him after labeling him an oppressor. Not even his cool gadgets could stop a stab to the heart. Soon after killing Batman, Superman enters a fit of rage and uses the lasso of truth to strangle and kill Wonder Woman.
