One of the most fascinating crossover games in history, especially since it likely led to Injustice, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is a fighting game within the Mortal Kombat series that featured DC characters, due to Shao Kahn and Darkseid accidentally merging into one being and pulling the two universes together.

Unfortunately, the game wasn’t as well-received as some others in the Mortal Kombat franchise, leading to a reboot after this release. It still makes for a fun fighting game, which provides all sorts of crossover fights that had fans eager to pick it up at the time, and it could yet receive a sequel.

By far the best series of games involving the Justice League, Injustice was another fighting game in a style similar to Mortal Kombat, but involving the characters from the DC Universe as they engaged in a brutal story. The Injustice storyline was set in a darker version of the Justice League’s world, where the Joker tricked Superman into killing Lois Lane, prompting Superman to kill the Joker and take over the Earth.

Normal versions of the heroes and villains from the DC “Prime” Universe are transported into the midst of the ensuing conflict, leading to heroes and villains fighting one another who normally wouldn’t. The impressive story and great fighting game mechanics made Injustice by far the most interesting Justice League game released to date, and it even got an animated movie adaption, albeit with a few changes.
