Catch the Runaway Seahorses is a quest in Dave the Diver that players can initiate by speaking with Linchen in the Game Parlor. To complete this quest, players must find and catch four Seahorses, and fans that pursue this endeavor will be one step closer to unlocking Seahorse Racing. Fortunately, it is not particularly difficult to address Dave the Diver's Catch the Runaway Seahorses quest, and this guide is here to walk players through the process.

To note, players will need to use Dave the Diver's Bug Net to complete the Catch the Runaway Seahorses quest. For full clarity, that item is earned by completing the Reticent Girl mission, which centers around preparing a dish for a customer named Maki and is initiated during Chapter 2.

Dave the Diver: Runaway Seahorse Quest Walkthrough

As previously noted, the Catch the Runaway Seahorses quest focuses on finding four Seahorses, all of which are located within Sea People Village. Here are details on the precise positions of those creatures, and players should use their Bug Nets to capture them:

dave the diver catch the runaway seahorses
  • Crowned Seahorse: Interact with the Portal to go to the village's upper level. The Seahorse is inside Tenzhin's House.
  • Dwarf Seahorse: Inside the Seed Shop.
  • Giraffe Seahorse: Just left of the Portal.
  • Hedgehog Seahorse: Just left of the Restaurant.

Once all four Runaway Seahorses have been caught, players should return to Linchen in the Game Parlor and speak with her to complete the mission and claim their rewards. Those rewards are 20 Bei, a currency that indie video game fans will use as they continue to advance through the game, and 20 Credit, which play a role in the important Sea People Village's Trust quest.

Players will also receive a new quest upon completion of Catch the Runaway Seahorses, which will instruct them to talk to Yami at the Seahorse Racecourse. This NPC is located on the left side of the Game Parlor, and speaking with him will initiate a tutorial about Seahorse Racing. This tutorial covers Seahorse Registration, course selection, and basic racing mechanics, and it will see fans of games with pixel graphics through their first competition.

That certainly does not need to mark the end of a player's racing career, though, as they can catch and register more Seahorses and compete on the other available courses. While it is not requisite that fans of casual RPGs spend much time engaging with this activity, Seahorse Racing can be a fun way to relax after working hard to build Bancho Sushi.
