First revealed a few years ago and having been available in early access for quite some time, the Monster Hunter-inspired Dauntless is now available to the masses. Last year's Dauntless open beta had over 2 million players, and since the game is free-to-play, it's safe to assume that there will be plenty of players jumping into its online monster-slaying world. Players will no doubt want to team up with their friends to hunt monsters, and here is how to do it.

To play with friends in Dauntless, simply hit the 0 on PC, touchpad on PS4, or the view button on Xbox One. This will bring up the game's social menu, which will differ depending on platform. For example, PC players will be greeted to their Epic friend list, whereas those on PS4 and Xbox One should see a combination of their Epic friends and those that they are friends with on the consoles themselves.

Once players find the friend that they want to invite to their Dauntless game, all they need to do is send them an invite and wait for them to accept. What seems to be confusing some Dauntless players in regards to playing with friends is that their friends aren't always loading into the Ramsgate hub world after being invited to the game. However, this shouldn't matter when it comes to actually slaying Behemoths with friends.

dauntless: how to play with friends

Start a hunt for a Behemoth, and then those who have been invited to the party should still load into the game. So don't stress too much about friends not appearing in the Ramsgate hub world. They will likely be in the hub world with the host player after the Behemoth is defeated, however.

It's also worth mentioning that Dauntless is the first game to launch with "true cross-play" across PC, PS4, and Xbox One. This means that those who jump into the game should be able to play with their friends regardless of platform.

Of course, this is all assuming Dauntless players are able to get into a game. Just as the Dauntless beta had some problems, the launch hasn't been perfect. However, expect lingering server and sign-in issues to be ironed out within the next few days.

Dauntless is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
