These heroes from the first Darkest Dungeon game didn't make the cut for the sequel.

Darkest Dungeon 2 received an exciting update in March when Brazil's National Press listed age ratings for its console versions. The developer has now confirmed that the game will be available in two editions for consoles. The Standard Edition can be purchased from the Microsoft Store for $39.99, while the Oblivion Edition, which includes the base game and The Binding Blade DLC, will be priced at $44.99.

Darkest Dungeon 2 Xbox Release Announcement

Additionally, there's more to look forward to. Later this year, Darkest Dungeon 2 will receive a significant free content update titled Kingdoms, set to release across all platforms. This update introduces a separate campaign mode where players must race against time to eliminate a monstrous threat. The campaign features interconnected safe haven inns and corrupted lands to traverse, requiring players to gather resources and combat new enemy factions, including the Coven, Beastmen, and Crimson Courtiers. The resources collected can be used to upgrade heroes and fortify inns, adding a strategic layer to the gameplay.

Darkest Dungeon 2 builds upon its predecessor, introducing several new features and improvements. One of the most notable additions is the Affinity System, which influences the relationships and interactions between the heroes. As players progress, heroes can form bonds or develop rivalries, directly affecting their performance in combat and overall journey success. Managing these relationships adds a new dimension of depth to the game, complementing its traditional combat mechanics.

With its upcoming release on Xbox Series X|S and other consoles, alongside new content in Kingdoms, Darkest Dungeon 2 promises thrilling experiences for fans. Console players should keep an eye out for July 15.
