When it comes to visiting the Inn on a journey into Darkest Dungeon 2, players will need to maximize their rest time. The game's core concept is to slowly wear down the team until they can't press on. With an inefficient Inn trip, gamers will be stuck in a cycle of losing.

Inn Items can only be used at an Inn, hence the name. They have some extremely quality dubbs and debuff-removing capabilities. Since money is tight in Darkest Dungeon 2, only buying the best Inn Items is important. Save gold for items that can be found elsewhere instead of blowing it all on subpar items at the Inn.

This list assumes the standard struggles that teams have. Some team compositions won't struggle with things like stress. Please compensate when using specific builds and hero combinations.

10 Stitching Kit

Darkest Dungeon 2 Buying A Stitching Kit
  • Heal 20% on one hero

With the right investments at the Altar of Hope, the bulk of healing between fights happens passively in the stagecoach. Invest in the stagecoach a bit and fight that healing is pretty plentiful. But tanks with deep health pools will often find that this passive healing is not enough. Going into a stretch with the tank constantly being dangerously low on health isn't wise. Use some Stitching Kits to get them at least halfway to their maximum.

9 Poetry

Darkest Dungeon 2 Selection Of Inn Items
  • -5 Stress to one hero

There are many skills and abilities that reduce the stress meters of a couple of heroes at once. But monsters on the most difficult Confessions don't play nice. Many will add stress stacks in bulk. The ideal Man-At-Arms build can handle stress but most parties will need something like Poetry when one or two of their heroes get dangerously close to having a meltdown.

8 Dartboard

Darkest Dungeon 2 Squad Playing Cards
  • -1 Stress to two heroes
  • 75% chance of +1 Affinity
  • 25% chance of -1 Affinity
  • 2% critical hit chance until the next Inn

Building relationships among heroes is perhaps the best way to win a game. Gamers that don't make minding the affinity meter a priority are doomed to failure. It will be a common theme on this list to build up these relationships so that the characters don't debuff each other's moves and stress each other out. The Dartboard also reduces stress which is nice. The extra critical hit chance is negligible but it's at least a step in a positive direction. Generally speaking, any buff that goes "until the next Inn" should be purchased only situationally.

7 Meditative Token

Darkest Dungeon 2 Getting A Buff With An Inn Item
  • -2 Stress to one hero
  • 67% chance to remove Negative Quirk

Negative quirks can completely derail the game. Some of them are particularly nasty. With more than one, heroes suddenly can't seem to do anything without creating consequences for themselves or their teammates.

Successful runs make a point to cut out negative quirks when they pop up. Even if the odds are only 67% of getting rid of the quirk with Meditative Token, the stress stack reduction is plenty handy.

6 Leeches

Darkest Dungeon 2 Stagecoach Passing By Corpses
  • Remove Disease on one hero

Leeches are simple. There are no odds to consider or potential drawbacks. If a hero has a disease, it can be cured immediately with Leeches. As Ordainment buffs grow for the enemies, players can't afford to be experiencing constant reductions in their stats. Get rid of these diseases either at the Inn or at the Field Hospital.

5 Candles And Chocolate

Darkest Dungeon 2 Plague Doctor And Highwayman Gaining Affinity
  • -2 Stress to two heroes
  • +1, +2, or +3 Affinity

Heroes vary in strength and power but all it takes is two fighting heroes to bring down an entire run. Many good items have a high chance of reducing stress and growing affinity but Candles And Chocolate guarantee at least one point of affinity gain. The item can also grant up to three affinity points, enough to turn a souring relationship into a positive one.

4 The Wine

Darkest Dungeon 2 Hellion And Plague Doctor With Respectful Relationship
  • -3 Stress to two heroes
  • +2 Affinity

The Wine is very similar to Candles And Chocolate but it reduces stress by an additional stack and locks in the affinity gain at two instead of gambling between one and three. There is little more frustrating than upgrading a key skill and then having that skill get debuffed due to an angry teammate. Keep the team happy with one another with items like this.

3 Wild Tea

Darkest Dungeon 2 Gaining Positive And Negative Quirks
  • Remove Negative Quirk on one hero
  • 25% chance to remove Positive Quirk

Positive quirks are great and the drawback of potentially losing one is indeed significant. But to guarantee getting rid of a negative quirk is a chance that gamers should take every time.

There is a good chance that Wild Tea would appear on this list even if the odds of losing a positive trait were 100%. The fact that the odds of this happening are only 25% makes this Inn item one of the best in the game.

2 Whiskey Barrel

Darkest Dungeon 2 Man-At-Arms And Plague Doctor Losing Stress
  • -2 Stress to party
  • 75% chance of +1 Affinity
  • 25% chance of -1 Affinity

Up until this point, players have been choosing a couple of heroes to help out. The Whiskey Barrel helps out the entire team, reducing their stress levels and giving everyone a 75% chance of liking each other more. There is a slight chance of losing affinity but the upside makes the risk advisable for almost every squad.

1 Roast Pig

Darkest Dungeon 2 Whole Party Gaining Affinity
  • -2 Stress to party
  • +1 Affinity to all hero pairs

Most items of this power are offset by the odds of something very bad happening. But Roast Pig has no chance of anything negative. It takes off two stress levels from the entire party and adds an affinity point not just to each hero, but to each hero with one another. Finding one Roast Pig can save an entire run and turn the squad into fast friends.
