Developer From Software, the studio behind Dark Souls and Bloodborne, has finally addressed rumors that have been circulating since last year that it is working on a new Armored Core game. While the studio has not made any official confirmation, Armored Core fans can perhaps rest a little easier thanks to a recent tweet from Yasunori Ogura, a member of From Software's marketing department, and what followed it.

"While I cannot discuss anything right now, we have no intention of ending the  Armored Core  series in its current state, so I would appreciate it if you can wait a little while longer."

The day after Ogura's tweet, From Software announced that it would be releasing a special PS4 music broadcast to celebrate the series' 20th anniversary on December 5th. Following that broadcast, the official From Software Twitter account echoed Ogura, reiterating:

"Thank you for watching the  Armored Core  20th Anniversary Music Special Broadcast! There is nothing we can announce now, but we don’t intend to end the  AC  series as it is, so we’d be happy if you could wait a little longer. Even going forward, thanks for supporting From Software!"

Yasunori Ogura Addresses Future of Armored Core

The Armored Core series is From Software's largest, spanning 20 different titles since 1997. While new Armored Core releases were relatively regular during the late 1990s and early 2000s, the most recent entry in the franchise, Armored Core: Verdict Day, was released back in 2013, leading fans to speculate whether any new Armored Core titles would ever be released.

Last year, the president of From Software, Hidetaka Miyazaki, stated that the studio was in the early stages of development on a new Armored Core game. However, with rumors that From Software might be looking at delving into the realm of VR, and that it might be hiring for a new dark fantasy RPG, some have worried that the studio may be too busy to work on a new Armored Core game.

While fans of the series will no doubt be hopeful for an official sequel announcement, From Software certainly seems to have confirmed that Armored Core is a series it intends to continue with. With the recent news that the developer would finally be shutting down online services for Demon's Souls, and the rumors that its upcoming titles may not include a Bloodborne sequel, fans of Armored Core may have renewed hope for the future of the series.

A new Armored Core game is not officially announced.
