Dark Souls is a video game that needs no introduction. The title came out of nowhere and wowed players with its deep lore, engaging combat, and a story that was riveting despite not being shoved directly in the player's face. The game was truly one of a kind and launched both FromSoftware and Hidetaka Miyazaki to superstardom, with their latest title, Elden Ring, selling like hotcakes and becoming one of the most successful video games of all time.

The first game in the Dark Souls series is still something magical that many fans consider to be one of the greatest video games ever made. There are many playstyles that players can pursue in the game, and leveling the Faith stat allows players to use many powerful Miracles that can both heal them and defeat their foes.

8 Great Magic Barrier

Sometimes, the best offense is a good offense. Using miracles is a great way to ensure that players can take out most enemies with ease without taking too much damage in the process, and the Great Magic Barrier spell helps out a lot in this regard.

This spell sets up a magic barrier that reduces incoming damage from magic attacks, which is highly useful against certain enemies and any invaders with magical attacks. The Great Magic Barrier is a useful spell to have, but players should think twice before using an Attunement slot on it all the time.

7 Emit Force

The miracles in Dark Souls are mostly geared toward support and healing, but the ones that do hit for high damage are pretty useful in their own way. Such is the case with the Emit Force miracle, which has a decent range and hits multiple enemies for serious damage.

As a cherry on top, this miracle deflects any sorceries as well! It's a great offensive spell to have, even if players may not consider this to be the most useful miracle in the game by any stretch of the imagination.

6 Gravelord Greatsword Dance

The Gravelord Greatsword Dance is a pretty cool miracle to mess about in the game. The attack is pretty much the very same that Gravelord Nito pulls out in his fight, making it a great AoE attack to target any enemies that surround the player.

This miracle is particularly useful in cramped areas and close quarters since chances are that multiple swords will hit the same enemy for serious damage. It's a great miracle to use in such a tight situation, but the damage in bigger areas can be a bit less satisfying.

5 Great Heal

A huge reason why people dump points in Faith to use miracles is so that they can rely on some extra heals if the need arises. Such is the case with Great Heal, the most powerful individual healing spell in the game.

This miracle can help players out of a tough spot over and over again, letting them heal up quite a bit in no time flat. Reserving an Attunement slot for this is worthwhile if players are struggling against a particular foe and repeatedly running out of Estus Flasks.

4 Karmic Justice

If players have to fight an enemy that is constantly landing melee attacks on them, then Karmic Justice is the way to go. This miracle places a buff on the player that essentially serves as a counter if an enemy gets too overzealous with their attacks.

The damage that players can incur with light armor is quite high, and this spell helps prevent the Chosen Undead from being combo'd to death. The counter hits for serious damage and can serve as a nasty surprise to any player who can't deal with the speed and ferocity of certain enemies.

3 Darkmoon Blade

The Darkmoon Blade is arguably the best buff in the entire game. It enhances the damage of a weapon to such a ridiculous extent that almost any enemy in the game can be one-shotted with ease!

Players need to reach Rank 1 of the Darkmoon Covenant to get this buff, which involves giving 10 Souvenirs of Reprisal to Gwyndolin. This buff is extremely powerful and can turn bosses into laughable pushovers!

2 Sunlight Spear

Ideally, the Great Lightning Spear is the more practical option when it comes to the offensive lightning magic that Faith builds can use. It has more uses and only takes up a single Attunement slot, as opposed to the two used by Sunlight Spear.

However, players won't have any reason to complain once they unleash the Sunlight Spear against an opponent and see the ridiculous damage numbers that pop up. It may only have five casts...but even the toughest bosses around won't last long enough to endure this spell five times anyway!

1 Wrath Of The Gods

Miracles can be quite inconsistent, with players struggling early on with a Faith build before eventually mastering some really powerful spells and getting great equipment to boot. Players who want to destroy their enemies can whip out the Wrath of the Gods miracle while surrounded by enemies.

The spell can be cast fairly quickly and does an incredible amount of damage, while also deflecting any sorceries! Suffice it to say, any player with this miracle can bulldoze through most tough enemy encounters and bosses with relative ease!

Dark Souls is available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
