Despite being commercially available for several years, many fans of FromSoftware games still hold Dark Souls 3 in very high regard. With massively detailed environments, a litany of weapons and equipment for players to utilize, and the landmark difficulty the franchise is known for, Dark Souls 3 is quite prevalent within the gaming community today. To the point where mods are still being actively developed for Dark Souls 3.

It's been six years since Dark Souls 3 first released and fans continue to make a plethora of content surrounding the game. In fact, one player recently managed to beat the final boss of Dark Souls 3 with over 90 percent of their screen covered. Players are constantly finding new ways to push the boundaries of what Dark Souls 3 has to offer via mods and other challenging facets. However, there's still plenty of room for hilarious mods to be developed.

Over on Reddit, a user named JBlack_5000 posted a gameplay clip of Dark Souls 3 that shows off a mod that allows the player to equip a gigantic sword that protrudes vertically out of the top of the player's helmet. According to the mod description, titled Blades of Ashina, this helm can actually damage enemy combatants and can be used by performing gestures in rapid succession.

Not only is this mod humorous to witness, but it also falls in line with the needs of some fans to make Dark Souls 3 as difficult as possible. It's almost a certainty now that someone is going to try and beat Dark Souls 3 using nothing, but this helm. Given that someone beat Dark Souls 3 using a one button morse code controller, beating the game with a sword sticking out of the player's head seems like an actual possibility.

It's amazing how much longevity Dark Souls 3 has managed to maintain. Not just Dark Souls 3, but numerous other FromSoftware titles have continued to receive new fan content in 2022. Take for instance, the PSX demake of Bloodborne that launched back in February. Days later, the community managed to add widescreen and ray-tracing settings to the Bloodborne remake, more than proving how much commitment fans have to these games.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what FromSoftware does going forward. Following the massive success of Elden Ring, many fans have begun to wonder what direction the studio will go in next. Given how recent the release of Elden Ring is, it seems unlikely that fans will be seeing a new FromSoftware title anytime soon.

Dark Souls 3 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
