Aside from killing things associated with darkness, Dark Souls and Kingdom Hearts don't have much of anything in common due to their drastic differences in tone. Regardless, this hasn't stopped a fan of both games from creating a mod that will allow players to wreak havoc in Dark Souls 3 as Kairi, Kingdom Hearts' staple princess.

The mod originates from Nexus Mods, a site that allows users to upload and download mods for games on PC. This Dark Souls 3 mod, in particular, comes from site user iwtexplode, and it's their first upload. To use the mod, players will need to have the DS3 Mod engine installed.

This Kingdom Hearts-based mod works by swapping out the knight armor set with Kairi's Kingdom Hearts 3 model, so players will need the whole of the knight's armor set for it to work. Luckily grabbing the armor is fairly easy. Anyone that starts out playing the knight will automatically have the full collection. Outside of that, players can grab it for 3000 souls from either Greirat after sending him out, or the Shrine Handmaid after handing her Greirat's ashes.

For the full experience, players will want to customize their character as a female using the "young female" voice. Doing so will replace the young female voice lines with voice lines from Kairi. She'll use the same battle quotes she does in Kingdom Hearts 3 when fighting against Xehanort.

The mode will also replace two specific Dark Souls 3 weapons — the normal longsword and Cleric's Candlestick — with Kairi's signature Destiny's Embrace Keyblade. Kairi's fighting style will then take on one of two different forms depending on which weapon her Destiny's Embrace replaces: Attack Form with the longsword, and Magic Form with Cleric's Candlestick.

Attack Form favors more of a melee-centered build. It trumps the longsword by giving it increased poise, along with better strength and dexterity scaling. Attack form also gives Kairi the Featherfall effect of the Dark Souls item Silvercat Ring. Featherfall prevents fall damage, giving Kairi more of a Kingdom Hearts feel, as it doesn't feature fall damage.

Magic Form will allow Kairi to cast every spell in Dark Souls 3. It gives her three extra attunement slots too, so players will be able to take quite a few different spells into battle if they want. It also gives Destiny's Embrace the Sacred Lothric Light weapon skill, allowing Kairi to fire off beams of light when in use. With this Form, light attacks are basic swings, while strong attacks cast spells.
