Fire and darkness are the 2 most dominant elements in Dark Souls 3, as they represent opposing forces; positive and negative; yin and yang; as well as life and death. The push and pull between fire and darkness has created a cyclical nature that proliferates not only Dark Souls 3 but all of the Dark Souls games, as can be seen by the different endings available in each title.

As such, each element is often powerful against foes embodying the other, therefore fire weapons are ideal against those borne from darkness, such as adversaries that enjoy lurking in sinister swamps, like the disgusting sewer centipedes, or those who have succumbed to The Abyss, like the wrathful wretches known as the pus of men.

There are many weapons that are naturally imbued with fire damage, however, the best stand out as particularly viable for both PvE and PvP due to their exceptional potential to scorch foes to ash in addition to great stats and novel movesets.

Updated on September 24, 2021, by Reyadh Rahaman:However, before being able to immolate enemies with the best fire weapons in Dark Souls 3, players will have to find them. In true FromSoftware fashion, there are a variety of ways to obtain the ideal weapons that innately possess fire-based damage.

Every such great armament is worth seeking out, even if that means traversing treacherous landscapes, felling mighty foes, or spending a wealth of souls. In addition, players should make sure that they can wield their desired fire weapon, as going through the trouble to attain it without being able to utilize its power would be a bit of a waste.

Witch's Locks

whip made from hair that does fire damage being used by the player.

These woven tresses are a whip made from the hair of a daughter of the Witch of Izalith; mother of The Old Chaos, modern pyromancies, and all of demonkind. As such, it is an appropriate melee weapon for pyromancer builds who desire a flexible armament.

While offering many battle boons, such as being unable to get parried and the ability to hit shields as well as through walls without getting deflected, whips can be tricky to use in most situations and lack enough damage to make them desirable over many other weapons. However, those set on using the Witch's Locks can expect decent stats from this unique whip when it gets upgraded to the max level of +5. The 134 physical attack and 140 fire attack get nice boosts from 3 stats: D-tier in Dexterity as well as B-tier with Intelligence and Faith.

How To Get The Witch's Locks

  • Start from the Lothric Castle area at the Grand Archives bonfire
  • Immediately after entering the archives, take a sharp left and head up the stairs closest to the entrance
  • After ascending the stairs, proceed straight and drop down slightly into the narrow corridor
  • Go to the pool of wax that one can dunk their head into and go through the door on the right
  • It is very dark, but there is a lever next to a set of stairs straight ahead and a bit to the right of the entrance to this room
  • Pull this lever to open up a hidden room located to the left of the lever
  • In this newly revealed room will be the Power Within pyromancy on a corpse as well as a chest containing the Witch's Locks

Demon's Fist

touched-up Shot of the Demon's Fist in Dark Souls 3.

An ideal armament for reckless individuals who seek to rush at foes to assail them with a flurry of blows. The Demon's Fist is the only fist (or claw) weapon with innate fire attack, which places it in a niche as the best fire weapon for an extreme close quarters build that needs to take advantage of an opponent's weaknesses.

Great damage and a very fast attack speed offer great viability in battle, however, its immensely short range means that its wielder will almost always get out-spaced by foes, which dooms the Demon's Fist to being only truly usable in PvE in most cases. When maxed out to the +5 upgrade, it receives 202 physical attack, 140 fire attack, and triple scaling: C-tier in Strength as well as D-tier with Intelligence and Faith.

How To Get The Demon's Fist

  • Players must acquire the Soul of a Demon by defeating the fire Demon in the Catacombs of Carthus
  • After this, one must transpose the Soul of a Demon with Ludleth of Courland in Firelink Shrine

Twin Princes' Greatsword

Dark Souls 3 Twin Princes' Greatsword

Despite being very cool in terms of lore and appearing as a weapon that can only be acquired on New Game+, the Twin Princes' Greatsword pales in comparison to some other fire-imbued blades. As a fusion between Lothric's Holy Sword and Lorian's Greatsword, it possesses a weapon skill (Sacred Light and Flame) that lets the wielder use the holy and fire ranged attacks of each component sword respectively.

Though, there is simply too much focus on this skill, which leaves the blade lacking in other areas. After being fully upgraded to +5, the Twin Princes' Greatsword gets 230 physical attack, 132 fire attack, and D-tier scaling with all 4 of the main scaling stats.

How To Get The Twin Princes' Greatsword

  • Players will need both Lothric's Holy Sword and Lorian's Greatsword, however, since they both need the same soul (the Twin Princes' Soul), players will need to defeat the boss brothers twice
  • On New Game+, after defeating the twin princes for the 2nd time and obtaining the 2nd sword, players can speak to Ludleth of Courland to have him merge the separate blades into the Twin Princes' Greatsword if both are equipped (stat requirements don't need to be met for the weapons)

Immolation Tinder

fire halberd and catalyst for sorceries.

Used by the dangerous fire witches that one encounters in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, players will likely be familiar with this interesting flaming halberd's scorching potential. Not only does it have the typically generous reach of a polearm, but it can also be used as a catalyst for sorceries (though not pyromancies, for some reason), which makes it a great asset for mage builds.

It even gets solid stats and scaling that reflect the notion of being great for sorcery-casters. At the highest upgrade level of +5, the Immolation Tinder gets 206 physical attack, 132 fire attack, and a trinity of diverse scaling: D-tier with Strength, C-tier with Dexterity, and A-tier with Intelligence.

How To Get The Immolation Tinder

  • The only way to obtain the Immolation Tinder is as an uncommon drop from the Fire Witches in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley
greatsword made from the soul of the lords, which is dropped by the soul of cinder.

As a weapon transposed from the Soul of the Lords, an item dropped by the Soul of Cinder, the Firelink Greatsword is among the strongest greatswords in the game that possess innate fire attack. It can even further increase this burning trait if the wielder uses this greatsword's weapon skill, Ember, which grants another 80 points of fire attack for even deadlier potential.

When maxed out to the final upgrade of +5, the Firelink Greatsword receives 234 physical attack, 162 fire attack, and dual D-tier scaling with Strength and Dexterity.

  • Players will have to defeat the Soul of Cinder and acquire the Souls of the Lords, meaning that this weapon is only truly usable in New Game+
  • After obtaining the Soul of the Lords, players can transpose the Firelink Greatsword by speaking with Ludleth of Courland in Firelink Shrine

Demon's Scar

curved sword that deals pure fire damage and can be used as a pyromancy catalyst.

This demon-borne curved sword is unique, as it deals pure fire damage and possesses no physical attack, making it exceptional for cutting down foes with high physical damage reduction, although it is useless against fiery foes. It can also allow one to cast pyromancies at the cost of replacing the heavy attack with this trait, which makes it an ideal weapon for pyromancers, though for few others.

At the highest upgrade level of +5, the Demon's Scar reaches 180 fire attack alongside triple scaling: E-tier in Dexterity as well as C-tier with Intelligence and Faith respectively; relatively low numbers to be sure, though a decent trade for this blade's battle boons.

How To Get The Demon's Scar

  • Players must defeat the Demon Prince to acquire the Soul of the Demon Prince from The Ringed City DLC
  • Afterward, players must transpose the Soul of the Demon Prince with Ludleth of Courland to get the Demon's Scar

Lorian's Greatsword

ultra greatsword weapon transposed from lorian's soul.

There are few weapons that have the damage potential of this ultra greatsword that can be transposed from the Twin Princes' Soul, even including the Twin Princes' Greatsword that this burning blade can be used to craft. With excellent poise health and damage, nice attack stats, and a great weapon skill, Lorian's Greatsword is definitively the best ultra greatsword with fire attack.

RELATED: Dark Souls 3: How To Defeat The Demon Prince

Fascinating lore, proven by the fiery 3-clawed handprint of the Demon Prince upon this ultra greatsword, is an appropriate indication of this weapon's awesome stats that it gains upon reaching the +5 max upgrade. Lorian's Greatsword gets 276 physical attack, 144 fire attack, and scaling with all 4 main stats: C-tier in Strength and D-tier in the other 3.

How To Get Lorian's Greatsword

  • Players must defeat the Twin Princes to acquire the Twin Princes' Soul
  • Following this, they must transpose the soul with Ludleth of Courland to get Lorian's Greatsword

Gargoyle Flame Hammer

player holding up a torch and a fiery hammer.

Possessing the staggering potential of a great hammer in conjunction with being capable of burning foes to ash makes the Gargoyle Flame Hammer a top-tier weapon for two-handed characters and pyromancer builds alike. Its weapon skill, Kindled Fury, is a mighty attack that slams the hammer down in front of the wielder before letting loose a plume of flames in a linear path that is relatively quick to use and easy to aim,

Upon reaching the max upgrade level of +10, this great hammer gets 244 physical attack, 200 fire attack, and scaling with 3 stats: C-tier with Strength and D-tier with Intelligence and Faith.

How To Get The Gargoyle Flame Hammer

  • The only way to get the Gargoyle Flame Hammer is as an uncommon drop from the gargoyle enemies that wield them in the Profaned Capital and the Grand Archives

Old King's Great Hammer

great hammer boss weapon transposed from the soul of the old demon king.

The Old Demon King once used this weapon to bash and burn players who entered his domain in the Smoldering Lake, though the Ashen One can also acquire this hellish great hammer to perform similar feats. Using a similar technique to how one would use the Gargoyle Flame Hammer, or other great hammers, players can crush opponents easily with this huge weapon's heavy-hitting attacks.

RELATED: Dark Souls 3: How To Beat The Old Demon King

The Molten Perseverance weapon skill is a solid attack that buffs the wielder's poise while also causing lava-filled explosions around them for decent fire damage. When fully upgraded to +5, it attains 328 physical attack, 126 fire attack, and scaling with 3 stats: C-tier with Strength as well as D-tier with Intelligence and Faith.

How To Get The Old King's Great Hammer

  • Players must defeat the Old Demon King to obtain the Soul of the Old Demon King
  • Afterward, they must transpose the Soul of the Old Demon King with Ludleth of Courland in Firelink Shrine to get the Old King's Great Hammer

Demon's Greataxe

player having fun with fashion in dark souls 3 holding a huge greataxe.

With exceptional base attack stats, an awesome weapon skill, and the fact that it consumes noticeably less stamina than many other greatweapons, the Demon's Greataxe is arguably the best fire weapon in all of Dark Souls 3. Players seeking to unleash the Dark Souls equivalent of a tactical nuke will love this weapon's Demonic Flare skill, as it delivers a devastating overhead slam that causes a fiery explosion upon impact.

After the Demon's Greataxe is upgraded to +5, it achieves 286 physical attack, 160 fire attack, and scaling with all 4 main stats; B-tier with Strength, E-tier with Dexterity, and D-tier with both Intelligence and Faith.

How To Get The Demon's Greataxe

  • Players must acquire the Soul of a Demon by defeating the fire Demon in the Catacombs of Carthus
  • After this, one must transpose the Soul of a Demon with Ludleth of Courland in Firelink Shrine
