Aldrich has very strong magic attacks that can make quick work of players' HP bar. Investing in gear that grants high magic resistance is a no brainer against this boss. The Xanthous Set provides good overall magic resistance. Players can also equip shields with high stability and magic resistance such as the Dragon Crest Shield or Havel's Greatshield. Aldrich is weak to fire attacks which makes the "Demon's Fist" an excellent choice to use against him. The weapon is acquired by transposing the Soul of a Demon which players can get by defeating the Fire Demon in the Catacombs of Carthus. The Demon's Fist has a quick attack, meaning players can land a few hits before rolling out of the way when Aldrich attacks. Players need to invest a few levels in Endurance to make sure they have enough stamina for this fight. Aldrich has wide Area-Of-Effect attacks that can deal enormous damage if players' are caught in their radius. The best strategy against Aldrich is to get a few hits in and roll out of the way when he unleashes his attacks. To do that players need to have high stamina points to dodge successfully and attack. Players can consume items and equip items that increase Stamina recovery, such as the Chloranthy Ring, in addition to leveling Endurance.

Players can easily get in close and land multiple hits against Aldrich before needing to roll away. Aldrich has a few weak spots that players can take advantage of and quickly take him out. However, getting to them is a challenge itself. Aldrich's human body and its head are vulnerable to attacks. Players will need to get close to him and target these areas for maximum damage. The most effective strategy against him is to get a few hits in and then roll out of the way before his next Area of Effect attack. Patience is key with Aldrich and players will need to take their time to find an opening they can use against him.

Aldrich will be unable to cast Arrow Barrage, Giant Soul Spear and Homing Soul Mass attacks for upto 15 seconds.
