Earlier this week, publisher NIS America announced that a number of games from the Danganronpa series will be gradually removed from the PlayStation Store, starting in August, which certainly alarmed fans.

Fortunately, a bit more clarification has been provided from series developer Spike Chunsoft, as it will be taking over publishing duties. While Spike Chunsoft publishes the Danganronpa series in Japan, NIS America originally was in charge of doing that in the West.

Details are still incredibly scarce as the statement doesn't explain when this will come into effect or when the games will be added back onto the PlayStation Store, assuming that they will be at all.  For the time being, Spike Chunsoft has simply said to wait for an official statement once details have been finalized.

Some fans speculate that this will lead to Spike Chunsoft releasing the games on other platforms like the Xbox One or Nintendo Switch. At the moment, the series has only been available on PlayStation consoles and PC, with mobile ports of the three mainline games coming out (the first game is already available).

Others hope this is a sign of a new game altogether. Danganronpa V3 came out in 2017 and there has been no talk of a new entry since. With this year marking the 10th anniversary, it would make sense, but there's currently nothing concrete to indicate it will happen.

Meanwhile, starving fans can check out series creator Kazutaka Kodaka's newest game, Death Come True, a full-motion mystery thriller that sounds as bonkers as one would expect from the man who created Monokuma.
