After a bumpy road along the way from pre-release with multiple delays to release day riddled with bugs and issues, Cyberpunk 2077 has now reached an acceptable and stable state after patches and updates. With developers' sights set on the new upcoming DLC, The Witcher Remake, and a brand-new Witcher title.

Whilst the efforts to implement features the game did not first ship with, especially with the focus narrowed in on the Phantom Liberty DLC, fans undoubtedly will be calling for this addition to come alongside the aforementioned DLC's release. As it is known that plans for a third-person perspective were scrapped for a focus on first-person, this is the best chance developers have to reintroduce this to the game.

5 Closer To GTA Experience

Third-Person driving

Considering the fact that Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto franchise is the pinnacle of open-world true-to-life gaming experiences, the third-person perspective is often viewed as a prerequisite by many fans of the genre. With features such as character creation, clothing accessories, and body modifications, a third-person camera is essential to allow players to embody themselves within the characters present in the story.

While it can be argued first-person does a better job of immersion in some cases, given the great level of detail in Cyberpunk to both the environment and the player's created character, the experience must expand outside the first-person view, aligning itself with what most players of open-world experiences are accustomed to.

4 Relevance Of Character Customization

Speaking of character customization, CD Projekt Red has made this a pivotal part of the Cyberpunk 2077 experience, from the first moment players dive into the story creating their character, and the availability of body modifications and clothing accessories once in-game. Without the option of a third-person perspective and aside from the third-person camera while using vehicles, all of those features completely fall flat.

Considering the fact that the third-person camera was due to be included in the final release but was suddenly cut, it left many fans in surprise particularly because cutscenes were made in the third-person. This is evident from the gameplay reveal in 2018, in which a female V is seen on a call with Jackie, and the final cutscenes at the end of the game.

3 Encourages Players For New Playthrough

2018 Gameplay

Given the initial negative reputation and reception stemming from Cyberpunk 2077's buggy launch, it is no surprise that a plethora of players did not look to continue their playthroughs. While it has been an incredibly massive improvement over the period of time between its release and now, adding in third-person alongside Phantom Liberty will give players who were first disappointed a greater incentive to return.

As for players who had completed Cyberpunk 2077, a third-person perspective would stand as a completely different experience for them not only because that is how CD Projekt Red first planned the game to stand with, but because if it does indeed happen, it will be completely reworked to fit the game's current mechanics.

2 New Cutscenes

Cut content

One of the biggest omissions when it comes to the discussion of third-person is the cutscenes that featured a full and complete view of V, along with a background for characters on call that players would connect to. While many could accept the fact could deal with the fact that gameplay was not in third-person, the removal of the option from cutscenes was incredibly detrimental.

Despite the fact that Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand was immense in the story and the game's success, giving players that perspective of speaking with another being within their own mind, many fans wonder how this would play out from another perspective, and this is the perfect opportunity to do just that.

1 Advanced Gameplay

Gunplay

Cyberpunk 2077's gunplay is surprisingly some of the best experiences very similar to Destiny 2, and this is an area that may not need possible many changes. Despite this, seeing titles such as The Division 2, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2's third-person lobbies, and of course the GTA titles, opens up the idea of something similar being implemented within Cyberpunk 2077, which would adhere to the accessibility among players who wish to choose between the two perspectives.

Another area of engaging with enemies with attacks is combat, which is still not very popular in the discussion of the title, as it often feels janky and unresponsive. When using the dodge, players are often still hit by opponents who appear to track them regardless of how far they move, and while third-person may not resolve this issue, it could potentially be done in a manner that would satisfy players more than its current first-person perspective does. For issues such as this, the addition of third-person could very well alleviate many of the gripes fans have with the title, and push Cyberpunk 2077 closer to what many had assumed the game would provide prior to its release.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, with its DLC Phantom Liberty currently in development.
