The Killing Moon is a main mission in Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty DLC that players can access if they helped Songbird escape during Firestarter. To complete this mission, fans must work through NCX, the Night City International and Translunar Spaceport, and make a significant choice. This guide is here to detail those aspects of Cyberpunk 2077's The Killing Moon mission, and it will help players reach a desirable conclusion.

Wait for News from Songbird

The Killing Moon mission begins with an instruction for players to wait for news from Songbird, and, unfortunately, the way to initiate her contact seems to be a bit inconsistent. Indeed, some fans are able to prompt a call from Cyberpunk 2077's Reed, and then from Songbird, simply by repeatedly using the Skip Time feature, while others suggest that they are not having any luck with that approach.

If a player is not hearing from Songbird after passing many in-game days, they are advised to focus on completing Run This Town, a Side Job that is given by Mr. Hands near the end of the Phantom Liberty DLC. Fans may also find that Songbird calls after they have spent a few real world hours exploring Cyberpunk 2077's Night City, though that does not seem to be guaranteed.

Meet with Songbird & Drive to NCX

After Songbird contacts V, players should read the message that she sends and follow the mission waypoint to reach a van that is parked in the City Center. Interacting with the back of this van will initiate a conversation with Cyberpunk 2077's Songbird, and fans will soon find themselves headed in the direction of the Night City International and Translunar Spaceport (NCX).

NCX

Players must now work through NCX in an attempt to deliver Songbird to a shuttle, and there are multiple objectives to address along the way. While there are several ways to approach those objectives, here are steps that players can definitively take to complete this section of the Killing Moon main mission in Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty DLC:

  • Follow the mission waypoint to enter NCX and proceed through the security gate.
  • Descend the stairs and enter the luggage area at the bottom.
  • Enter "930604" into the Baggage Retrieval System and read the file.
  • Open the yellow suitcase on the conveyor belt and equip the Corp-Bud Uniform.
  • Go right and follow the path to reach a guard standing in front of a construction area.
  • Enter the construction area, move the obstacle ahead, and follow the path to a rollup door.
  • Follow the mission waypoints to reach the rooftop elevator, using stealth, combat, or speed to get through the enemies in the construction site.
  • Use the elevator to reach the roof and follow the mission waypoint to Johnny Silverhand.
  • Descend the stairs next to Johnny and scan the fire hose that is mounted on the wall.
  • Interact with the fire hose to pull up Songbird.
  • Follow Songbird, passing through the ventilation shaft, to reach an elevator.
  • Use the elevator to reach the main hall and run through the battle to access another elevator.
  • Call the elevator and ride to departures.
  • Follow mission waypoints until Songbird sits and then grab her water from behind the nearby bar.
  • Continue following mission waypoints through Tycho Terminal, hiding behind pillars to avoid the pursuing helicopter's assault.
  • Enter the maglev station and kill all the NUSA operatives that appear.
  • Enter the control tower and defend it until the train arrives.
  • Link up with Songbird in the control tower, carry her to the train, and place her in the indicated seat.
  • Wait for the train to stop and carry Songbird to the shuttle.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty - Should You Give Songbird to Reed or Kill Him

As fans approach the shuttle, they will enter a conversation with Reed, during which a big choice must be made. Specifically, players must give Songbird to Reed or kill him, and here are more details on those two options:

Give Songbird to Reed

If a player opts to give Songbird to Reed, he will take her away in an aerial vehicle, presumably to execute the plan that was outlined during the preceding conversation. While this will mark the end of the Phantom Liberty DLC, fans will have access to a new set of missions after the credits roll. Those missions are Through Pain to Heaven, Who Wants to Live Forever, and Things Done Changed, and players that complete them all will reach a new ending to the base game.

Kill Reed

Players that instead choose to kill Reed will have the opportunity to load Songbird onto the shuttle, send her to the moon, and complete the DLC. Notably, these fans will not have access to the aforementioned post-credit missions, which means that pursuing this path will prevent them from seeing Cyberpunk 2077's new ending.

This is why it is recommended that players give Songbird to Reed, as this option leads to the most DLC-exclusive content. Of course, fans can always use a save made prior to the decision in order to pick both options and access both endings without fully replaying Phantom Liberty's story.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
