Cyberpunk 2077 includes more than sixty "side jobs" for players to complete. Each of the side jobs is outside of the main storyline but can have an impact on character arcs during the main missions. Major side jobs will alter character relationships and storylines, so gamers will want to make sure they understand the consequences before going down a dialogue path.
One of the most time-consuming and difficult major side jobs in Cyberpunk 2077 is "The Hunt" side job. The quest is activated after completing the "I Fought The Law" side quest and waiting for an entire day. An NPC named River Ward will call gamers and the side job will begin.
Meet River Ward
River will be in his truck on the corner of Pacific Blvd. and Market Street. He will not be at the location until players wait for a few minutes. River will be in a noticeably bad mood. His nephew went missing several days before a police shooting. The suspect that was shot was a notorious criminal named Peter Pan. A teenager was found dead in Pan's car with traces of stimulants in his bloodstream. The teenager was wearing River's nephew's shoes when he was found. Peter Pan is alive but in a coma.
After speaking with River, gamers are informed of the experimental dreams research. River will plead players for help finding a way to look into Pan's brain while he is incapacitated.
The Research Lab
Players will then sneak into the NCPD lab, which is undergoing an audit. Gamers can follow the quest indicators to the side door in the alleyway. Once in the lab, River will tell players to find the cabinet with Anthony Harris' (Peter Pan) data. In one of the back rooms adjacent to the large research room, there will be a cabinet. After players inspect it, River will appear. A few seconds will pass before an NPC named Yawen will walk in.
She will not seem too happy that River has broken into the lab. After a lengthy dialogue, Yawen reveals that Anthony Harris is not dreaming. Damage to Harris's brain is preventing his neurons from firing. Yawen will be unsure about operating on Harris but is inclined to help.
Randy's House
Next, River will drive players to his nephew's house where they will speak with his mom, Joss. After speaking with her, gamers will look through Randy's items for any clues. There will be drugs in Randy's bathroom and a locked cabinet in his room. River will also want players to break into Randy's computer. The password is "Liberum Arbitrium", which players will glean from the poster on the wall in Randy's room.
Randy's computer will reveal messages between Randy and Harris. Anthony Harris formed an online relationship with Randy, manipulated, and abducted him. Players will need to click through all of the website pages and the photo to activate the next step in the quest. Gamers will discover that the missing file on the website is the disturbing farm video "ATT_CART_VIDEO". River believes that the video may be the key to making Harris dream again. After leaving Randy's room, gamers will have a chance to back out of the mission when River asks "Stayin', Right?".
Peter Pan's Dreams
After retiring for the night, players will immediately be awoken by River, who claims that Harris is dreaming again. The BD reveals that Anthony Harris developed psychological issues from a young age. Players will be able to view three different dreams, the first is in the school cafeteria after Anthony injected HGH into a turtle following his father's death. The second dream displays Anthony at his father's farm while he was an adolescent.
Finally, in the third dream, Anthony is at a farm somewhere in Night City. The third dream is the most important, as it will give players clues to where Randy and the other teenagers are being held. Players will want to look out for the model number of the farm. Gamers should turn left when outside of the office where the dream begins and walk to the other side of the barn. The model number is to the left of the barn door on the wall. Next, gamers will want to scan the panel in the room to the right of where the dream begins. With these two clues, River will know what barn is in the dream.
Finding Randy
River will recognize that the farm in Anthony's dream is Edgewood Farm. There will be turrets and mines surrounding the farm. Gamers can use their abilities to hack or avoid them as they approach the farm. To get inside the barn, gamers will need to climb up the ladder to the left and fall through the window. Then, players will want to find the control room from the dream and deactivate the system to free the teenagers.
Randy is located in the bed right outside the control room. River will find him while gamers are saving the other victims. River will want to finish off Harris after the police arrive. Players can convince him otherwise or agree with him. After speaking with River outside of the barn, the quest is complete.
