Cyberpunk 2077 has finally launched and is off to the races. It definitely has problems though, and while players are racing around Night City, CD Projekt Red's stock price has raced downwards.

The biggest problem for many players is Cyberpunk 2077's numerous bugs, which effect every level of the game. Odd graphical glitches are easily forgivable and sometimes hilarious, but they are not the main issues. Some bugs have popped up that actually prevent players from completing jobs and sometimes confuse players about how to complete jobs altogether. One problematic step has been talking to Johnny Silverhand in the Tapeworm job, so here's how to get it done.

What's Supposed to Happen

Tapeworm is an odd job; it really just consists of four conversations with Johnny Silverhand spread out through the game's main missions. Being nice to Johnny is an important step to getting Silverhand's special gear, as well as getting better endings. The important conversation where some things go wrong happens right after the job Automatic Love, as the player leaves the Clouds club. In an elevator, the player's vision starts going wonky, and after leaving the elevator, Johnny will pull them aside for a little chat.

It should be mentioned again that this is important to the progression of the story and a relatively low-risk mission. No matter what players do here, they don't significantly impact the story, so it's a simple step towards big rewards later down the road, no matter which lifepath players take. This makes the bugs all the more frustrating.

What Actually Happens

Players have run into several problems when it comes to this Tapeworm conversation. Some are small scale, like a visual bug where Johnny's cigarette hangs out in midair. For many players however, the conversation never takes place. Without it, the Tapeworm job cannot progress, and players can't get to any of the goodies it leads to. That's a pretty insane Cyberpunk 2077 glitch, and what's worse is that it seems widespread, without any immediate fixes forthcoming. Fortunately, there are solutions.

How to Fix It

The first thing to do is make sure Patch 1.04 has gone through, since this was one of the bugs it was supposed to fix. If that doesn't work, try loading the autosave closest to where the cutscene is supposed to trigger and walk through it again. If it still doesn't work, try re-visiting the building and riding up and down in the elevator. If possible, try to do this at 11 PM, since that's when Automatic Love wraps up. Hopefully, this bug stops being an issue soon, since no amount of Cyberpunk 2077 unlimited money glitches will get the gear locked behind Tapeworm's completion.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions coming in 2021.
