Although Cyberpunk 2077 has been faced with its fair share of controversies as of late, there's no denying that it is an impressive game and lives up to many of its promises when being played on the right hardware. The game’s rough launch has been filled with many ups and downs, but gamers everywhere are still trying to make the most out of the tricky situation.

While it’s become clear that Cyberpunk 2077 is a demanding game in many ways, some gamers can’t help but wonder what taking the most anticipated game of 2020 on the go would be like. Thus, an ambitious YouTuber has taken it upon himself to find a way to run Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch.

Despite reports that developer CD Projekt Red wouldn't count out the possibility of Cyberpunk 2077 coming to the Nintendo Switch, YouTuber Nintendrew decided to do it himself. Yesterday, the YouTuber uploaded a video showing how he was able to mod a Nintendo Switch to run Cyberpunk 2077 at full speed with full joy-con support, even capable of outputting up to 1080p when connected to the TV via the dock, like many other Nintendo Switch games.

In the video, Nintendrew outlines a few goals he intended to meet when embarking on the task to get Cyberpunk 2077 running on the Switch. The YouTuber wanted to make sure the game looked good and performed well, even outperforming the base PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. He also wanted to include full controller support for the Nintendo Switch's Joy-Con controllers and its Pro Controller, and he also wanted it to be accessible and easily affordable for most Switch owners. While Nintendrew wanted to share his method so that other Nintendo Switch owners could try it for themselves, he does warn that it requires some heavy modifications to the system. While the YouTuber mentions he could have easily found a way to stream the game from a powerful PC directly to the Nintendo Switch, he excluded the option, as top of the line gaming rigs can be quite expensive.

Instead, Nintendrew utilized the Nintendo Switch's NVIDIA Tegra X1 processor, which is the same processor used in the Android-based NVIDIA SHIELD. Because of this, with the help of some additional tools, the YouTuber was able to run a version of Android on a hacked Nintendo Switch. And since Google Stadia is a native Android app, he was able to download Google Stadia on his Nintendo Switch and stream Cyberpunk 2077 at full speed and with full controller support.

Nintendrew also mentions that this method doesn't limit the Nintendo Switch to just Cyberpunk 2077, but in turn, Google Stadia's entire library of games. Although many gamers are disappointed with CD Projekt Red for the recent events surrounding Cyberpunk 2077's console performance, it's good to know that some are still finding creative ways to enjoy the game however they want.

Cyberpunk 2077 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
