Cyberpunk 2077 is typically priced at $59.99 on Steam, but there have been numerous occasions where the game's price was cut in half to $29.99. CD Projekt Red released Cyberpunk 2077 in December of 2020 to significant controversy. The widely-hyped game failed to live up to expectations and suffered from significant performance issues, especially as it pertained to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.

Cyberpunk 2077's problems led to CD Projekt Red issuing refunds for the game, though it seems public opinion on it has improved drastically since its initial release. CD Projekt Red developers buckled down and released multiple updates for Cyberpunk 2077 that addressed its technical problems and added new content, resulting in a much stronger experience than the one fans had to deal with on release.

However, some may be waiting for a sale and could be curious about the lowest price the game has ever been listed for on Steam. According to data from Exophase, Cyberpunk 2077 has been discounted by 50% on numerous occasions, making it available for just $29.99 instead of the usual asking price of $59.99. The last time this happened was in January 2023, with the price remaining static at $59.99 throughout February and March so far.

Cyberpunk 2077 is treated to a heavy discount multiple times a year, and so it's highly likely that the game's price will get reduced again at some point in the near future. One likely scenario is that Cyberpunk 2077 will get a discount to coincide with the release of the upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion, though nothing official to that effect has been announced at the time of this writing.

Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty expansion is scheduled to launch at an undetermined point later this year. The expansion will be leaving the last-generation consoles behind, meaning it should hopefully avoid running into the same technical issues that the base game did at the time of its launch. Phantom Liberty will give Cyberpunk 2077 players new areas to explore and quests to complete, as well as the chance to interact with a character played by Idris Elba. Keanu Reeves' Johnny Silverhand will also be returning.

Cyberpunk 2077 has turned things around quite significantly in the time following its launch in 2020, so it should be a safe buy for anyone that's a fan of CD Projekt Red's work. However, those that don't want to pay full price may want to wait for the game to get knocked back down to $29.99 again.

Cyberpunk 2077 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
