There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it, Cyberpunk 2077 had a mixed launched. The PC side of things went fairly smoothly, garnering some good reviews, but the console versions are a train wreck across the board. CD Projekt Red even had Sony pull it from PSN. The graphics, bugs, frame rates, and everything in between are that bad.

What is not contested about this game, whether one is experiencing a bug or not, is the story. Most reviews and fans that have actually played it are enjoying the writing for what it is. That's not to say it too doesn't have some problems. There will be spoilers ahead.

10 Vik’s Money

At the start of the game players owe Vik over $20,000. Paying him back is not a big deal and in fact the first time players try he refuses. Vik is just a great guy. That said if he has been keeping a tally though, shouldn’t that price have gone up after V returns from death? Presumably it wasn’t easy to bring him/her back. The only thing that would make sense is if Takemura paid.

9 Getting Dizzy In Non-Story Situations

Speaking of coming back from the dead, there are story sequences that show V’s body is deteriorating. However, this flash of trauma can happen randomly in the game  too. Sometimes it will appear in the middle of a conversation with one part of V feeling nauseous and the other carrying on like nothing is happening. This might be just a glitch but it happened enough where it doesn’t seem like that’s the case.

8 Sebastian Ibarra

In the setup as a Street Kid, players will meet Sebastian Ibarra aka Padre. It seems like there is something being setup later down the line in regard to his territory and the 6th Street gang.

Nothing ever comes of this though. In fact, most things setup in any of the three starting scenarios don’t effect much of the game. One would think they should, but they really don’t except for some dialogue choices.

7 Johnny Interacting With The World

What Johnny can and cannot do is inconsistent in the game. He isn’t real and is basically a vision that can appear before V and V only. However, there are instances where he seems to have a physical presence. For example, when players escape The Clouds and V has a panic attack, he grabs a bucket, from the real world, and sits on it. Did he really move that or what’s going on here?

6 Is Johnny’s Body Still Out There?

Toward the end of the game when players can take on Johnny’s side quests, they learn that his body might be in a dump. When they look it isn’t there. Either this was a lie, or the body just got buried. It has been fifty plus years after all. However, since the Corpos took his consciousness put it in a chip, they might have kept the body at HQ or somewhere else. One never knows if it could surface in a sequel and or DLC.

5 Flesh Vs. Hardware

What is the state of everyone’s bodies in the game? That is to say how much of V is flesh and how much isn’t? This goes for everyone too. Some bodies look completely fleshed out albeit with maybe a cyber limb or eye and then some bodies look completely plastic. It’s never really outright addressed. This is more of a curiosity than a big question or plot hole.

4 What’s With The Cat?

When scoping out a building with Takemura toward the end of the game, a wild cat appears. This is the same looking hairless cat that hangs around Vick’s clinic.

Takemura seems to think it is a spirit which might be right. After all, apparently all animals were driven out of the city and or died. Both of these mysteries could use some elaborating.

3 Fifty Plus Years And No Evolving

The earliest point seen in the game is through one of Johnny’s flashbacks in 2013. There is another one that takes place in 2023. Between these two dates and the present of 2077, not much has changed. That’s hard to believe in a fifty plus year span at most seeing as this is the future and all.

2 The State Of The World

On top of that, what’s going on with the world? There are small hints dropped in this game that other parts of the world exist such as Atlanta also not being too bright of a city. Apparently there are people on the moon too. And what of the Japan Takemura is longing so hard for? It would be interesting to see DLC or a sequel visit these last two places especially.

1 The True Ending

Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay screenshot

If there is going to be a sequel, and one can bet that there will be based on PC reviews and sales, what will be the true ending of this game? The best and it happiest ending seems to be the one dealing with Panam, her family, and V leaving Night City with them with only six months to live. Will that be it for him/her or is there a cure yet? If a sequel does happen V might not even be the star. There is a lot left in the air.
