Cyberpunk 2020 creator Mike Pondsmith teases a new character and side quest that could be added to Cyberpunk 2077. Developer CD Projekt RED has confirmed several exciting NPCs for Cyberpunk 2077, such as Johnny Silverhand, a character played by Keanu Reeves, and this new character is another one for the list.

In posts on Reddit, Pondsmith told a fan about a campaign that he had created for the Cyberpunk 2020 board game. The campaign, which he enjoyed for a few months, was called Michiko's Night Out, and it is about an 18 year old named Michiko, the daughter of the Arusaka Corporation's CEO, and her bodyguard who begin to cause trouble in Night City. Michiko, who Pondsmith calls "a wonderful NPC," is like Battle Angel Alita and Girl Genius, and she also has a fling with a cyborg named Adam Smasher.

Pondsmith said that Michiko may show up in Cyberpunk 2077 but suggests that it hasn't been officially confirmed. He said that he hasn't published the Michiko campaign because "Michiko continues to exist in the 2077 timeline" and he has to "sort all that out first." It's unclear when Pondsmith will get confirmation on if Michiko will be in the game, but that should come soon since it isn't long until the title is released.

The name Michiko may not be as important to fans as the name Johnny Silverhand, but the Cyberpunk 2020 campaign sounds like it could be a hugely entertaining Cyberpunk 2077 side mission. CD Projekt RED has said that Cyberpunk 2077 side quests will feel like complete stories, and a quest that has players helping Michiko get out of trouble, while also finding out more about her character, her bodyguard, and Adam Smasher, could certainly match that statement.

Michiko's story could also serve to get the player character V in trouble with the Arusaka Corporation, as they may not be happy to see them helping her have fun outside of the compound and not just bringing her back. If the character's origin story is aligned with corporations, they may be able to talk themselves out of it, or if they are a street kid, they may be able to use Michiko's power if they become friends. Looking at the potential, some players would likely be very happy to see Michiko appear in Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on April 16, 2020 on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
