Cyberpunk 2077Phantom Liberty and the 2.0 update have reshaped car chases and vehicular combat. Players should expect a lot more time spent on the roads of Night City dodging the reworked police and gang members. El Capitan has new missions for V that involve stealing cars and getting into intense chase sequences.

This means there are also new options for dealing with enemies in cars. V can purchase vehicles with weaponry and even hack cars to cause mayhem on the streets. This guide will demonstrate how to use quickhacks to shake off enemies in Cyberpunk 2077.

Unlock the Carhacker Perk

The perks in Cyberpunk 2077 have been completely changed. Returning players may want to start a new character to avoid confusion. The new Carhacker perk can be found in the Intelligence section. V can unlock this perk when four perk points have been invested in the Intelligence tree. This perk is the key to using quickhacks on vehicles in Night City.

Remember that V needs to have a cyberdeck equipped to hack enemies and objects. Players will want to invest in a decent cyberdeck and some Intelligence perks for more RAM. Vehicle quickhacks have high RAM requirements, especially if V is still running around with their first deck.

How to Hack Vehicles

Once players have a good cyberdeck and the Carhacker perk, they can begin hacking vehicles. Hold L1/LB and center the camera on a target just like enemies/objects. The list of available quickhacks will then appear on-screen. Select the desired hack and press Square/X to execute.

Vehicle quickhacks do not have to be purchased like normal hacks at stores around Night City. Vehicle hacks are instead tied to the tier of cyberdeck that the player is using. A Tier 4 Purple cyberdeck will have all vehicle quickhacks unlocked.

  • Self Destruct - Use this hack to cause the vehicle to explode.
  • Floor It - Hack the accelerator of enemy vehicles, and they will speed away uncontrollably.
  • Emergency Brake - This hack will engage the brakes of enemy vehicles, making them come to a dead stop.

If players are close enough to a vehicle, they can use the Take Control quickhack. This will let V drive the car remotely. It's not very useful in chases as there is a limited range that will appear on the top of the screen. Players can use the hack to cause havoc while clearing side content in Night City.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
