As players get further and further into exploring the vast open world of Cyberpunk 2077, fast travel is going to become something they desperately want. While the game does have a fast travel system in place, it must first be unlocked by story progression and isn't as easy to use as some other games.

Cyberpunk 2077 sees players exploring Night City, and although it is just one city, it's almost the size of The Witcher 3's map. With that in mind, using fast travel to get around it is vital to saving time on the already lengthy journey. Here's how players can unlock fast travel and how to make use of it after that.

For starters, players must continue on in the story until they reach the quest titled "The Ride." This is the second main job in the first chapter of the game, so players should access it fairly quickly after completing the prologue. For reference, it's also the one where players meet an integral Cyberpunk 2077 character, Evelyn.

How to fast travel in Cyberpunk b2077

After completing this mission, players will unlock the capability to fast travel, but they'll still need to unlock fast travel points and learn how to use them. In Cyberpunk 2077, players don't need to interact with a location in order to unlock fast travel, instead they can simply walk or drive near it. With that in mind, it may be a good idea to take a joy ride around Watson and any other areas the player has unlocked in order to collect some fast travel points. It may take some time up front but it will make things much easier moving forward.

After unlocking a fast travel point, players will need to head to either a Tourist Information Center Kiosk or a Station Gate in order to access the fast travel menu. There are several of these spread throughout each district of the city, so players shouldn't have any problem locating them. Once here, players can instantly travel to any other fast travel point they've unlocked, including ones near V's apartment and Vik's Ripperdoc shop.

It's unclear why CD Projekt Red opted to use this method for fast travel, as allowing players to do it from the main map would certainly have been much more convenient. On the other hand, it does require the player to see a little more of Night City rather than just jumping around it. Either way, hopefully fast travel helps players enjoy their experience more despite Cyberpunk 2077's many problems.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
