It's safe to say that Cyberpunk 2077 has had a rocky start. Between controversies, bugs, and game systems that need improvement, players can hopefully expect improvements coming to Cyberpunk 2077 this year.

Fortunately, some players feel not everything from Cyberpunk 2077 has been a mess. Foremost among the game's strong points are its characters, many of whom are interesting, and the best of whom are deeply engaging. One of these characters is Judy Alvarez, a braindance expert who players encounter early in the game. As one of the emotional centers of the story, Judy has gotten a lot of love from players, and one went so far as to paint a portrait of her that should not be overlooked.

The artist in question goes by Frevilisk, and this is not their first foray into art depicting video game characters. In fact, characters and designs from fantasy and science fiction appear to be Frevilisk's specialty, ranging from depictions of Tenno from Warframe to a life-sized Fullmetal Alchemist transmutation circle. The Judy Alvarez painting captures some of Judy's hidden details, including, as one comment puts it, "the sadness in her eyes."

That sadness is hardly surprising, even if players can easily forget about it based on their in-game interactions with Judy. At her best, Judy is a decidedly sunny personality in Night City, despite going through some tragic experiences. She's guided by her love of the people she surrounds herself with rather than profit, as demonstrated by her rejection of mainstream braindance corporations attempting to attract her talent. She also happens to be at the center of some of the hardest choices in Cyberpunk 2077, including choosing someone for V to romance.

Judy is clearly a character who has struck a chord with many players, as this is hardly the first fan-work created centering around her. Other examples include a few different Judy Alvarez cosplays. As someone depicted to be a kind, clever, and talented person in a dark and grimy world, it's no surprise many would want to walk a mile in Judy's shoes.

With DLC announced for Cyberpunk 2077, there's a chance that Judy's story has not come to an end. What will become of her, V, and the game of Cyberpunk 2077 in general is difficult to say. However, Judy will likely be well remembered as one of the best parts of one of the best video game stories of 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and is in development for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
