A Cyberpunk 2077 player discovered a surprising Easter egg referencing the real-world electronic music duo Daft Punk over 400 hours into the game. Since its release back in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 has never been shy of including homages to influential works from a variety of beloved franchises, with references ranging from classic retro anime to dystopian sci-fi films. Devoted fans have attempted to track down each Easter egg and secret in the game, up to and including the references hidden within the game's only expansion DLC, Phantom Liberty.

Cyberpunk 2077 became known for its Easter eggs after fans noticed the sheer amount of quests, vehicles, and secrets alluding to popular works, with some referencing IPs dating all the way back from the 80s. Developer CD Projekt Red's open-world action RPG notably even sometimes mixed references, such as the case with the name and design of the Yaiba Kusanagi CT-3X, a purchasable vehicle that strongly resembled the bike from the anime film Akira while sharing a name with the protagonist of the Ghost in the Shell manga, Motoko Kusanagi.

One of Cyberpunk 2077's most popular moments has been cleverly recreated in Bethesda Game Studios' Fallout 4 by a creative fan.

Now, another Easter egg was uncovered by a fan, who spent over 400 hours exploring the dystopian streets of Night City before they came across an unexpected reference to Daft Punk. Reddit user HackSama shared a photo to the r/cyberpunkgame subreddit, which showcased V and Johnny Silverhand posing alongside a pair of helmeted figures. The pair, known in-game as the DJ duo Private Press, notably appeared during the 99.9 Impulse event held at Riot but can also be spotted during the "I Don't Wanna Hear It" side job, wherein the player can find them waiting around the front entrance of the same club.

Cyberpunk 2077's Music Easter Eggs

This wasn't the only time Cyberpunk 2077 included references to the music industry. Most notably, every main and side quest after the game's prologue is named after classic songs that would have influenced Johnny's diehard rocker-boy persona, such as AC/DC's "Shoot To Thrill" and The Beatles' "A Day In The Life." Pop listeners might also be amused with the Cyberpunk 2077 Easter egg referencing Rihanna, wherein V's talking handgun Skippy can be heard humming the tune for "Disturbia."

Though fans have hunted down dozens if not hundreds of references, developers have confirmed there are still Cyberpunk 2077 Easter eggs that remain undiscovered nearly four years after the game's release. However, as CD Projekt Red announced there were no plans to implement major content updates beyond the Phantom Liberty DLC, many fans believe it's only a matter of time before the collective player base unravels all of Cyberpunk 2077's secrets.
