Cyberpunk as a genre combines many different ideas and themes. Part of what makes Cyberpunk so accessible is it can be connected with all manner of movies, games, and even real-life situations. It's no surprise then that Cyberpunk 2077 is rife with Easter eggs. One of the latest Easter egg discoveries comes from the 1993 action movie Demolition Man starring Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes.

In Cyberpunk 2077, if players visit their character's home, the Easter egg is found with relative ease. Those who recall the three seashell joke from Demolition Man will already know where to find it, too. If players go into V's bathroom, they'll find a shelf next to the toilet where toilet paper would typically be, but instead there are three seashells on the shelf. This is a direct reference to a very popular scene from Demolition Man.

For those who aren't familiar with Demolition Man, the movie centers around a police officer being cryogenically frozen until the year 2032. He's unfrozen to try and capture a criminal on the loose, but a good part of the movie is dedicated to Stallone's character getting used to the future world. Perhaps the most memorable scene of the film is when Stallone tries to go to the bathroom, only to find three seashells instead of toilet paper. He's mocked by the other officers because of his confusion, and then uses tickets he gets for cursing as makeshift toilet paper.

What's especially great about the three seashells joke is that no one ever actually explains how to use the three seashells in the film. Stallone's character is left befuddled, mocked, and frustrated. That's a pretty good summary of Stallone's character deals with the future, anyway.

In the years after the film's release, its writers would confirm that the three seashells are used in a pretty similar way to toilet paper. Two are used like chopsticks to pull waste away and a third is used to scrape, which sounds nightmarish but is still as close as fans will ever get to knowing the official idea behind the three seashells.

Unfortunately, seeing the three seashells is the limit of the Easter egg in Cyberpunk 2077. It'd be great if CD Projekt Red added its own dialogue to the situation, making a joke or offering up its own ideas. Regardless, it's a fun nod to a classic 90s action movie.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
