A Cyberpunk 2077 Death Stranding Easter egg seems to have eluded many players. The reference to Hideo Kojima's latest game has now once again resurfaced on social media after many fans returned to the RPG in order to play the newly released Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion and the game's preceding 2.0 update.

Kojima Productions and CD Projekt Red's collaboration dates back to the crossover between Cyberpunk 2077 and Death Stranding from late 2020. Among other things, the partnership was meant to promote the PC port of Death Stranding, which received half a dozen cosmetics based on Cyberpunk 2077. None of that content ever made its way to the PS4 original.

Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red subsequently added the BB pod from Death Stranding to Cyberpunk 2077, although many players missed that Easter egg the first time around. That group also includes Reddit user deddyduck_22, who recently stumbled upon the orange baby container in the game, later taking online to share their find. With hundreds of players voting to send their discovery to the front page of the game's most populous subreddit, it would appear that a portion of the fandom was still unaware of this Easter egg years after its inclusion. The pod itself can be found in the small downtown clinic that V breaks into during Cyberpunk 2077's The Hunt side quest.

Apart from the BB pod model, the crossover also saw Hideo Kojima himself making an appearance in Cyberpunk 2077. The famous game designer can be found at the very beginning of The Heist mission, as soon as V and Jackie enter Konpeki Plaza and get past the reception. At that point, Jackie will ask the protagonist whether they want to follow him straight to their room or look around; picking the latter option will allow the player to visit the hotel bar right next to the main elevator, where they'll be able to find Kojima at one of the tables, talking to a group of people.

Walking up to the Cyberpunk 2077 rendition of the renowned director will even prompt him ask the player if they brought a pitch for him. That's as far as the interaction with Kojima, called Oshima in the game, goes. His Cyberpunk 2077 cameo arrived shortly after his 2019 appearance in Too Old To Die Young, Nicolas Winding Refn's artsy neo-noir miniseries made for Amazon Prime Video. Kojima also had a small cameo in Refn's latest show, Copenhagen Cowboy, which released in January 2023.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
