The highly anticipated release of Cyberpunk 2077 is finally nearing release and the reviews are out. While PC fans are awestruck by the game's tantalizing next-gen visuals and have an idea of what to expect, console users have been left in the dark leading to some genuine concerns.

Cyberpunk 2077 reviews confirm that the game is riddled with a plethora of game-breaking, visual bugs, and glitches, indicating that its day one performance on PC isn't up to the mark. This has got console fans even more concerned, especially the ones who could not get hold of a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S at launch. This aligns with the latest Cyberpunk 2077 delay which happened because the game was struggling on PS4 and Xbox One.

Hence, many fans took to Twitter to show their concerns regarding the performance of Cyberpunk 2077 on current-gen consoles and whether it would be any better than the PC reviews or it would be worse. Thankfully, CD Projekt Red's Fabian Mario Döhla answered one of the fans reassuring that the console version of Cyberpunk would be good. On being asked whether the game would be different on Xbox One X after the update, he said that Cyberpunk 2077 is seemingly a "different game" with the console update installed.

Döhla has been actively responding to fans' concerns regarding the game and has also confirmed that most of the notable issues present in the reviews have been fixed, while others will be a part of an upcoming update.  CD Projekt Red has since then rolled out a 28GB patch for consoles that seemingly fix most of the game-breaking issues. According to the patch notes, this day one patch will fix some "critical progression and gameplay issues", while also providing various stability and performance improvements. With the Cyberpunk 2077 pre-load now being available on all the systems, players can download this console patch before booting up the game on December 10.

While most people are skeptical about the performance of Cyberpunk 2077 on consoles, some people, who got to try the game early, seems surprisingly pleased. Popular Industry Insider Lance McDonald took to Twitter to praise the game's real-time rendering of cutscenes on PS4, which took him by surprise. Another Twitter who goes by the name of "Son Of Atom" stated that Cyberpunk 2077 looks and plays much better on a PS4 Pro and PS5 in comparison to the Night City Wire footage that premiered a few days ago.

As it seems, CD Projekt Red is dedicated to launching Cyberpunk 2077 in the best shape possible on all the consoles. Fortunately, players won't have to wait much longer to find out.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases December 10, 2020, for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with a free PS5, Xbox Series X/S upgrade coming in 2021.
