One Cyberpunk 2077 player came across a plausible Blade Easter egg while exploring a sketchy-looking building in Dogtown. The run-down neighborhood of Night City was introduced to the game just recently, having debuted as part of the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion on September 26.
The first and only piece of DLC for CD Projekt Red's latest RPG was largely met with critical acclaim, having been lauded for both the quality and quantity of its content. Apart from adding dozens of hours' worth of questing to the game, Phantom Liberty also greatly expanded on Cyberpunk 2077's extensive selection of Easter eggs.
This Cyberpunk 2077 Invisibility Build is Completely Broken
An inventive Cyberpunk 2077 player comes up with a ridiculous build that essentially makes V permanently invisible in the latest version of the game.
In yet another testament to that achievement, Reddit user CrimzonSorrowz recently stumbled upon what appears to be an elaborate Blade reference in the hit RPG; while exploring the Anatomicon building in the southernmost part of Dogtown, the player encountered a gnarly sight of a room filled with corpses that have been stabbed through the heart, with death metal music blasting in the background. They were then attacked by a katana-wielding character wearing a trench coat and sporty-looking pair of sunglasses.
After a difficult fight, which also saw the Blade lookalike go invisible, the Cyberpunk 2077 player found out that their attacker was called Wesley Hunt, likely in reference to Wesley Snipes who portrayed Marvel's iconic character throughout three movies. And though the immediate surroundings of this familiar-looking NPC suggested that he was out on a vampire hunt before V found him, some of the nearby information slates indicated that the character actually suffered from Cyberpsychosis induced by an experimental substance, killing everyone in his vicinity.
CrimzonSorrowz was seemingly not the first fan to stumble upon this possible BladeEaster egg in Cyberpunk 2077, as several other players chiming in on their discovery offered some of their own observations about the mysterious figure. One of them revealed that a laptop in the immediate vicinity of Wesley Hunt contains a message from Derek Frost, which is likely a reference to Deacon "Deac" Frost, a prominent figure in the Blade lore.
This peculiar find adds to the sizable list of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty references and call backs that the fandom discovered to date. The newly released expansion also contains references to The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, John Wick, and plenty of other popular media. The DLC itself has already been a massive success, with CD Projekt Red recently revealing that Phantom Liberty hit 3 million sales during its launch week.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, while the Phantom Liberty DLC is exclusive to PC and current-gen consoles.
