Building a thriving community in Cult of the Lamb is a lot harder than it looks, especially when players are tossed into a seemingly barren area with only a single Follower and a Statue of Worship. What makes it so difficult is that players will need a lot more than just Gold Coins if they want to unlock new buildings or turn their town into a bustling, autonomous paradise. That's because many of the best structures and upgrades are locked behind Devotion gates, which require the Lamb to gain enough Devotion to unlock.

Thankfully, each time players gain enough Devotion, they'll be rewarded with a Divine Inspiration point, which they can use as they see fit. Some buildings and upgrades are located in higher tiers, with players having to unlock a specific amount of upgrades before they're able to open the next tier. Each time a player uses a Divine Inspiration point, the amount of Devotion required for the next point increases. Pretty soon, players will find themselves needing hundreds of Devotion for a single point. The following guide outlines all the best ways to gain Devotion fast in Cult of the Lamb.

6 Rush Cult Upgrades As Soon As Possible

Once players have their Statue of Worship and begin to receive Devotion and Divine Inspiration points, they're essentially free to spend them as they see fit. It takes a specific amount of points spent in a given tier to unlock the next tier, but what many players don't know is that unlocking the next tier also upgrades the Statue of Worship. Once players unlock a new set of structures and upgrades, they won't be able to instantly pick from the group, they'll first have to unlock the large crest in the center of each tier. Unlocking this crest gives players access to new structures and immediately increases the size of the Statue of Worship, allowing it to hold more Devotion before it's full and opening more Worshipper spots around it.

Because this will help players gain more Devotion (by allowing more Worshippers at one time) and allow them to store more Devotion while they're away, they should be sure to upgrade the Cult immediately, each time they're given the chance.

5 Focus On Leveling Up Follower Loyalty

The Lamb will gain Loyalty from their followers the more they give them new buildings, perform Rituals, and simply interact with them. Each time a Follower's Loyalty bar fills up completely, they will level up and reward the Lamb with a large amount of Devotion. This can be especially useful in the early game, as the amount of Devotion that the Lamb receives from simply leveling their Followers can quickly award them with multiple Divine Inspiration points. Although this "boost" becomes less useful over time, it's still an incredibly simple and effective way to farm Devotion.

Players can unlock Rituals to help increase Loyalty, and they can also unlock commands like "Inspire," which can be used once a day and will boost a Follower's Loyalty by quite a bit. They can also give them gifts, and complete their quests, to level them up faster.

4 Unlock Tabernacles Early

CultOfTheLambTabernacles

The Statue of Worship is given to players as part of the tutorial and there's only one that can be built. It's possible to level it up to increase its capacity and worshippers, but those with tons of Followers will have a hard time gaining Devotion from all of them consistently due to the cap of Worshippers that can be present at the statue at any given time. Thankfully, there is a way to put those other Followers to work generating Devotion, in the form of buildable Tabernacles.

There is no limit on these smaller Statues of Worship, although they have a much smaller bank compared to their larger counterpart. That said, players will be able to upgrade them later on as they climb through the tiers of the Divine Inspiration tree.

3 Unlock The Propaganda Speakers To Improve Devotion Gain

As players make their way through the Divine Inspiration tree, they'll gain the ability to unlock special speakers that will create an aura that increases Worship Speed and Devotion generation. These speakers can be placed around Tabernacles and players can even set them near the main Statue of Worship. The only downside is that they require a fuel source, more specifically they require one Gold Bar to operate. Thankfully, this fuel lasts for quite a bit, giving players a nice speed to their Devotion gain and allowing them to unlock upgrades and structures even faster.

2 Be Sure To Force Followers To Worship

Although Followers will usually head to the main spot of Worship on their own, sometimes the A.I. is insistent on doing its own thing, especially when players don't have a lot of followers. This gets even more apparent when players have a lot of Tabernacles, as Worshippers are less likely to visit these locations when the main statue is full. Because of this, it's best for players to walk up to any Followers that aren't currently working and "force them to Worship" by choosing the command from the interaction wheel. Forcing Followers to Worship will guarantee that players are getting as much Devotion as possible, and with certain speed buffs on they can simply stand near a Tabernacle and reap the rewards every few moments without enough Worshippers present.

1 Build Grand Shelters As Soon As Possible

CultOfTheLambGrandShelter

When players first begin their journey as Cult leaders, they'll only have access to Sleeping Bags early on. These "houses" are where their Followers will sleep at night, and they're pretty prone to breaking down, forcing the Lamb to repair them often. Early on in the Divine Inspiration tree, players gain access to upgraded housing, which doesn't break down nearly as frequently. What players should really focus on, however, is the grandiose housing that can be built in the third tier of the Divine Inspiration tree. These homes will never break down and actually generate Devotion passively. With enough of these housing sitting around, players can find a nice chunk of Devotion waiting for them after each day has passed.

The only downside is that they can be fairly expensive to produce, requiring a lot of Gold Bars to make. Because of this, it's recommended that players at least have a couple Level 2 Refineries before attempting to build tons of Grand Shelters.
