6 Choose The Right Starting Ruler
To get the most out of the new DLC for Crusader Kings 3, the first thing players will want to do is choose a suitable starting ruler. The best starting rulers for Tours & Tournaments are those with stable realms that allow players to stay out of wars and focus on fun peacetime activities.
To fund extravagant tournaments, tours, pilgrimages, and hunts players might prefer to play as characters with a great economy as all of these activities are expensive. Alternatively, characters with high Prowess can be a great option for players who want to compete in tournaments and hunt themselves.
5 Get Rich
Not only are the new activities in Crusader Kings 3 extremely expensive, but the rewards get even better if players are able to spend more on the occasion. For this reason alone, getting rich has never been more important in CK3.
To make money in Crusader Kings 3, players will want to own the best economic counties, which can be seen more clearly now with the economy map. Furthermore, focusing on stewardship and employing a highly competent steward will help bring in greater levels of tax. One of the new ways to get rich is to host the occasional tax tour, which squeezes out extra gold from vassals, even if it has its own upfront cost.
4 Use Activities Instead Of Schemes
Previously in Crusader Kings 3 if the player wanted to befriend a character or instead murder them, they would have to use schemes. However, with Tours & Tournaments, it is now possible to pursue either of these goals at activities such as grand weddings, hunts, and tournaments.
While players can opt to use a mixture of these, the immediacy of befriend and murder intents at activities makes them more appealing for matters that need to be dealt with quickly. Storywise it also makes events more memorable especially when compared with off-screen murders that happen out of nowhere.
3 Attend Other Character's Feasts And Hunts For Free Stress Loss
The stress mechanic is one of the best things about Crusader Kings 3, and most players will already know that unless their character is shy, the best way to lose stress and avoid mental breakdowns, is to hunt and feast.
However, not only do these activities cost a ton of gold to host, but they also have cooldowns meaning that players cannot spam them. Thankfully with the recent update, other characters now host activities that players can attend, especially if they are local. Although they will not usually gain prestige or other rewards saved for the host, by picking the default intent of recreation, a lot of stress can be relieved.
2 Check Your Vassals Aren't At War Before Starting A Grand Tour
Planning out every single step of a grand tour, including choosing each of the stopping points is one of the most fun things to do with the Tours & Tournaments DLC, but all that effort can be wasted when your vassals cannot host due to being away in war.
For this reason, it is a good idea to click on each vassal that you intend to visit and see if they are at war, if they are it is best to either delay the tour or simply miss them out and avoid spending money and time. If the player is at war, then some of their vassals might also be away fighting as knights in the army, and likewise be unavailable for visits.
1 Roleplay
With all the additions of Tours & Tournaments, roleplay in Crusader Kings 3 has never been better and is arguably the best way to get the most out of the DLC. By exploring all the new features through the eyes of the character and making decisions that align with their personality and desires, epic stories will flow naturally.
To properly roleplay, players should treat each character differently and try not to consider what is the optimal decision for progressing in the game. When attending or hosting feasts, tournaments, and the like, players can also let things unravel naturally as many new events have been added. Events will also trigger while characters are traveling to activities.
