Crunchyroll surprised the anime community with a brand-new visual for the highly anticipated upcoming anime adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's hit manga, Chainsaw Man. The anime series has been slated to premiere this fall; however, no specific date has been set by production studio MAPPA just yet.

The new key visual features the protagonist, Denji, in his titular form as the Chainsaw Man. The official website and Twitter account for the upcoming anime also announced that a new trailer for the series will be released on Friday, August 5, exactly one week after the new key visual's release. This trailer will be showcased as part of a MAPPA stage event which will be streamed on the studio's YouTube channel on August 5 at 8pm JST.

The anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man was first announced in December 2020, upon the ending of the manga's first part. The second part of the Chainsaw Man manga began serialization earlier this month in the online magazine Shonen Jump+.

For those who are unfamiliar, Chainsaw Man follows the story of a young man named Denji, who lives a difficult life of poverty, struggling under a debt left to him by his father. When Denji is betrayed and murdered, he forms a contract with a dog devil he named Pochita, and gains the ability to turn parts of his body into chainsaws. He becomes an entity that is neither man nor devil – an inhabitant of the interstice. He is then recruited into the ranks of the Public Safety Devil Hunters, a group committed to maintaining public safety by tracking down and hunting devils.

Chainsaw Man - Trailer 2 Close Up Of Makima's Eyes

Chainsaw Man is immensely popular, with over 13 million copies in circulation as of June 2022. It won the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award in the Shonen category and strikes a chord with readers who particularly commend its storytelling, characters, dark humor, themes, and gory violence. The first 11 volumes are available from Viz Media.

While this new key visual does not give anything away with regard to a release date, fans will be immensely excited by the premise of a new trailer for the series, which will reveal important aspects of the upcoming series such as first cast information. Be that as it may; however, tension is building as suspense regarding the release date continues. As announced earlier in the year, Crunchyroll will be making the anime series available on its streaming platform.
