The Legend of Vox Machina Season 2 might still be airing, but Critical Role just announced it bringing the Mighty Nein to animation soon as well. Mighty Nein, a new Critical Role animated series, is in development, and will be coming to Prime Video in the future.

Critical Role made the announcement on its official Twitter page alongside Fanology Prime Video. The new project is early in production, and does not yet have a release date or footage, but may provide more information during Critical Role's pre-recorded shows down the road.

The short trailer showed off the set of Critical Role littered with merchandise, miniatures, and props from the Mighty Nein’s second campaign actual play stream. The camera pans around the set as characters from the party recite some of their most iconic and memorable quotes. The trailer ends on a shot of the Mighty Nein pilot screenplay, which then fades to their party logo with the player characters silhouetted in the background.

Critical Role is a popular Dungeons and Dragons actual play stream composed of famous voice actors. The stream became so popular that Critical Role became an independent company of its own, featuring official and third-party Dungeons and Dragons products, a non-profit foundation, and other products like board games, comics, and books. Now, Mighty Nein joins The Legend of Vox Machina as Critical Role’s second animated series.

Players are ecstatic to see the Mighty Nein make the jump to animation. The Legend of Vox Machina has been an excellent translation of the popular actual play campaign, and fans can’t wait to see the second story get the same treatment. Though Vox Machina established Critical Role as a major stream, the Mighty Nein elevated it to new levels of popularity. Many players were introduced to Critical Role through the Mighty Nein, so this new series may be even more popular than the first.

There is currently no timetable as to when Mighty Nein might come out. The Legend of Vox Machina Season 2 is currently airing, and Season 3 has already been greenlit by Amazon. Considering these two seasons of The Legend of Vox Machina revolve around the Chroma Conclave, it will probably make a fourth season to wrap the final arc of the original campaign. If it does, it could still be a few years before fans can see the Mighty Nein in all their animated glory. Nevertheless, knowing the series is coming is enough to spark Twitter trends, with thousands of fans celebrating the unsung heroes of Exandria.

The Legend of Vox Machina Season 2 is airing now. Mighty Nein is in development.
