Recently, Square Enix announced a remake of Crisis Core was coming soon, titled Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion. The developers of the Final Fantasy 7 remaster have confirmed an important Easter egg pertaining to Sephiroth’s hair care routine would be carried over in the remake.

In a Eurogamer interview with executive producer Yoshinori Kitase and producer Mariko Sato, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth revealed some similarities and differences players could expect to see in the remaster. Though the core story will remain the same, gameplay mechanics–most notably the combat system and visuals–will be overhauled. But most importantly, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion will preserve the special Easter egg that revealed one of the universe’s biggest secrets: how does Sephiroth–the main antagonist of Final Fantasy 7maintain his impossibly luscious locks?

During the original Crisis Core, players could join a number of fan clubs during the game. While these fan clubs have little practical purpose, they do unlock a fair bit of fun flavor for Midgar. One of these fan clubs, called Silver Elite, is a Sephiroth fan club dedicated to the first SOLDIER. If players join the fan club, they get an email titled “The scent of silver winds,” which details the secret of Sephiroth’s otherworldly hair care routine.

Players were relieved to see such an important piece of trivia was being preserved in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion. Crisis Core is all about providing additional context for Final Fantasy 7, and the fan club content was integral to building the atmosphere of Midgar society. If Sephiroth's hair care routine is still in the game, players can probably expect to see the fan clubs and other fun side content preserved–and maybe even added to–within the remake as well.

Love him or hate him, no gamer can deny the profound impact Sephiroth had on pop culture after his introduction as the primary antagonist in Final Fantasy 7. Though few gamers could ever truly decide on which Final Fantasy game is the best, it is fair to say Final Fantasy 7, as the first 3D Final Fantasy title, set a precedent for the Final Fantasy franchise the same way Sephiroth did for SOLDIER. Luckily, players won’t have to wait too long for more Sephiroth content–beyond the Crisis Core remaster, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis is slated to release some time this year, and the next installment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, Rebirth, releases in 2023.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion will release this Winter for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
