A couple of months after its initial announcement at The Game Awards 2022, the first-person shooter Crime Boss: Rockay City released a trailer showcasing more of its action gameplay, as well as some of its more prominent characters. Though the trailer shows only a small amount of the gameplay, it does provide greater context of what will be going on, how the story will transition into gameplay, and what we might expect out of some of the characters in Crime Boss: Rockay City.

Crime Boss: Rockay City was first shown at last year's Game Awards, a small surprise among a bunch of bigger titles. While the trailer shown did not go into detail about what the game will be about, it did use the time it had to boast its star-studded cast. From big names in the cinema world such as Michael Madsen and Danny Trejo, to those more well-known in the gaming industry like Damion Poitier, the game was proud to show off how many well-known stars it was able to acquire for their 90's inspired heist game.

The Crime Boss: Rockay City lteast trailer, titled "Lost Candy," starts with Travis Baker, played by Reservoir Dogs actor Michael Madsen, driving through the streets of the fictional Rockay City. He stops in the street to talk to Casey, played by L.A. Confidential's Kim Basinger, a partner of his in the drug empire he is starting. They discuss more about the drugs before cutting to the point where the drug shipment is getting attacked.

The trailer then transitions to gameplay, starting in the middle of a car-infested street where the player is fighting off enemies to defend the drug shipment as a character labeled "Quarterback." The gunplay shown in the trailer has an intensity very similar in looks to another 505 Games published title about heists and crime, Payday. The gunfight goes on for a minute until ending with the player being killed and failing the mission. The trailer then goes to a cutscene where Baker chews out Nasara, played by Damion Poitier, and tells him to get the drugs back, before ending with a shot of Hielo, a rapper played by Vanilla Ice, with the drugs in his possession.

Overall, the trailer definitely shows more of what players can expect from Crime Boss: Rockay City. While the shooting looked competent, what seems more prominent is the game continues, even after failing a mission. This may mean the game actually follows a more Payday-like structure as well, with players taking on missions, perhaps with a more structured narrative like that of Grand Theft Auto. As the game inches closer to its March 28th release, more trailers should be expected to give a better idea of what the entirety of the game will include.

Crime Boss: Rockay City is set to release March 28th on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
