Next month, fans are going to get a heavy dose of nostalgia that will likely cause them to drool all over the updated graphics found within Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, and should the compendium be a hit, it will obviously beg the question of whether or not more titles starring Crash are on the way. As it so happens, Vicarious Visions producer Kara Massie recently sat down for an interview with Game Central, and hinted at the possibility of there being a remaster for Crash Team Racing in the future.

When asked if the N. Sane Trilogy is just a one time project to celebrate the series’ anniversary, Massie mentions that the future of the franchise has not yet been determined, which leaves the door open for other titles from the series to get the remaster treatment, or for an entirely new game to come about. Following this line of thought, Massie is then asked what fans question her about the most, with the Vicarious Visions producer saying that Crash Team Racing is one that gets "asked about a lot."

As one would expect, Massie didn't confirm if Crash Team Racing would be in the works after the N. Sane Trilogy launches, because the company has to see how well the latter game's sales are when it launches. That said, though, the Vicarious Visions producer certainly seems ready to put together another release in the Crash Bandicoot franchise, as she said regarding the studio's work on the forthcoming remaster trilogy, "I’d love to work on another Crash game, this has been marvelous."

For those unaware, 1999's Crash Team Racing for the first PlayStation was essentially Naughty Dog’s take on Nintendo's Mario Kart. Much like the Big N's racing property, players raced against one another in colorful, over-the-top tracks and arenas while collecting power ups along the way. The Crash Bandicoot racer was so popular that it led to the development of the sequel Crash Nitro Kart.

While it remains to be seen if Crash Team Racing will go on to receive its own remaster similar to Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, it's obvious that fans are fervently excited for the latter's release, which could very well pave the way for the former to get a revamped version as well. After all, it looks as if Vicarious Visions has done a great job so far at retaining all of the elements that made the first three Crash games so great, while also updating the gameplay visuals with sumptuous detail for the current generation.

Crash Team Racing can be played on the original PlayStation, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation Vita.
