Today at 1pm PT is the big PlayStation 5 game reveal event, where Sony will be showing off its PS5 launch titles as well as games that will be available for the next-generation console within the launch window. It remains to be seen exactly what Sony will be showing during the PS5 game reveal event, but a merchandise leak suggests that a new Crash Bandicoot game will be one of the titles.

Twitter user iWanderr discovered images of some new Crash Bandicoot merch and shared them online. They include a redesigned look for the titular Crash Bandicoot himself, as well as pins based on Tawna (Crash's girlfriend from the original Crash Bandicoot) and Dinodile, both of whom look like they've gotten some upgraded looks as well.

The leaked Crash Bandicoot merchandise features a new logo that simply says "Crash," which could be the title of the new game. It also shows a controller stand holding Xbox One controllers, so it seems likely that the new Crash Bandicoot game will be multi-platform. However, previous leaks have indicated that the new Crash Bandicoot will be a timed-PS5 exclusive.

There have been a number of rumors about a new Crash Bandicoot game. Apparently it's been in development for at least three years, and it may even have a PvP element. There's also rumors that Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex is getting a remaster, though evidence of that has yet to surface beyond random Internet rumors.

Considering the success of Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy, it makes sense for Activision to revive the franchise with a brand new entry. And considering how the original Crash Bandicoot is one of the PS1's most-defining games, it would be fitting to see the new Crash debut on the PS5.

If a new Crash Bandicoot game is being announced alongside the other PS5 games today, it seems like it will be a huge day for Activision. Not only is the company rumored to be showing off the new Crash Bandicoot, but the general consensus is that it will also be revealing the long-awaited Call of Duty 2020. While it's still possible that neither game will be shown at the PS5 game reveal event, fans may want to tune in just in case.

Crash Bandicoot is rumored to be in development for PS5.
