Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is expected to be announced this coming Monday, June 22 at the Summer Game Fest Developer Showcase. However, some images of the game have leaked online ahead of time, potentially revealing a surprising playable character in the process.

If the leaked Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time images are anything to go by, it seems as though antagonist Dr. Neo Cortex will be playable in parts of the game. The images show Cortex holding some kind of a remote device in what appears to be a cut-scene, but they also show him standing on a platform and shooting a beam in what seems to be an actual level in the game. The position of the camera in the image definitely makes it look like Cortex is the playable character in this stage as opposed to a boss that Crash is fighting, though it's possible that it's being taken out of context and so fans should keep that in mind.

If Cortex is playable in Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, it wouldn't be the first time that the villain has been made a playable character in the games. Most recently, Cortex was one of the featured playable characters in Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, the remake of the original Crash Team Racing game that launched last year.

The Crash Bandicoot 4 leaked images were posted online by Twitter user UncleJensom, and fans can click here to see them all. We can't share them in this post, but they show what is presumably still-images of the Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time reveal trailer that is expected to be released on June 22. Besides potentially revealing Cortex as a playable character, the images also suggest that Coco Bandicoot, Crash's younger sister, will be playable in the new game as well.

Meanwhile, there's some other exciting information that has come about from the most recent Crash Bandicoot 4 leaks. According to the leaks, the Crash Bandicoot 4 release date is October 9, 2020 for PS4 and Xbox One, meaning fans may be able to get their hands on the new Crash game in just a matter of months.

Hopefully the Crash Bandicoot 4 leaks are true and fans will be able to get an official announcement during the Summer Game Fest Developer Showcase on Monday, June 22 at 8am PT.
