Unfortunately, the game is now leaving its original platform, Apple Arcade, forcing fans to play somewhere else if they'd like to continue their save files. This guide will help players move their save files from Apple Arcade onto another platform so that they don't lose all their progress.
When Is Cozy Grove Leaving Apple Arcade?
Spry Fox has announced that players will no longer be able to download Cozy Grove from Apple Arcade on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Gamers who have already downloaded the game will be able to continue playing for an additional two weeks; Cozy Grove will remain available to play on Apple Arcade until February 29.
According to Spry Fox's post, Apple simply informed the indie studio of its decision without providing any reasonable justification. It is speculated that this could be related to Netflix acquiring Spry Fox.
How to Transfer Cozy Grove Save Files From Apple Arcade
Gamers can transfer their Cozy Grove save files from Apple Arcade to Steam or Epic Games Store.
For this to work, players must own the Cozy Grove base game as well as the New Neighbears DLC on the new platform . Since the Apple Arcade version of the game includes the DLC, players won't be able to run their save files on the new platform unless they own it.
Here is how gamers can move their Apple Arcade Cozy Grove save files to Steam or Epic Games Store:
Find Your Cozy Grove Save Files
On a mobile device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch):
- Open the Options menu from the main title screen
- Tap the word Options seven times within five seconds to open the Import/Export menu
- Select Export
- Select Save to Files
- Select On My iPhone and replace the existing items
- Email the Cozy Grove data file to yourself
On a Mac:
- Open the ~/Library/Containers/Cozy Grove/Data/Library/Application Support/com.spryfox.colorsoftheforest folder
- The save files are titled: cg_save.sf, cg_save_2.sf, and cg_save_3.sf
- The backups for each save file are titled: cg_save_bak.sf, cg_save_2_bak.sf, and cg_save_3_bak.sf
On tvOS (AppleTV):
- Enable iCloud Drive for Cozy Grove
- Sync progress with another iOS device using iCloud
- Access the files from another device
Convert Your Cozy Grove Save Files
Mac users don't need to convert their iOS files, so only gamers who will be playing on a Windows computer have to follow these steps:
- Download the file you emailed yourself (cozy_grove_save.sf)
- Open the save file that you want to convert with the Windows Notepad text editor
- To keep the first save file, delete everything below the first set of three dashes (---)
- Save it and rename it to cg_save.sf
- Redownload the file you emailed yourself
- Open the file with the Notepad text editor
- To keep the second save file, delete everything above the first set of three dashes and everything below the second set of three dashes
- Save it and rename it to cg_save_2.sf
- Repeat this process with the last block of text
Import Your Cozy Grove Save Files to the New Platform
- Open Cozy Grove on Steam or Epic Games at least once
- Navigate to where your game stores its save files
- Windows: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Spry Fox\Cozy Grove
- Mac: ~/Library/Containers/Cozy Grove/Data/Library/Application Support/com.spryfox.colorsoftheforest
- Move the files you want to import to the folder above

Can You Transfer Cozy Grove Save Data from Apple Arcade to Switch?
Cozy Grove save data cannot be transferred from Apple Arcade to Switchh; there is no way to import save files to any other platform besides Steam or Epic Games Store.
