Devsisters reveals the latest update for Cookie Run: Kingdom. Stories by the Fireplace is set to celebrate the end-of-year festivities. The mobile game has received steady updates since its first launch, and this is set to be its second winter-themed update, with this latest one taking a decidedly more festive tone.Cookie Run: Kingdom was released globally in January 2021 and has steamed ahead in popularity since. In September of the same year, Cookie Run: Kingdom earned its place as #1 in Free Games in the App Store and Google Play in Japan, as well as #2 in RPG Games in the App Store in the US. Kingdom, the sixth entry in Devisters’ Cookie Run franchise, has continued to maintain a strong following, and Stories by the Fireplace is likely to keep people playing through the winter months.RELATED: New LEGO Brawls Update Adding Christmas-Themed ContentThis update includes the introduction of a new system to increase players’ chances of getting the Cookie Run: Kingdom Treasures they want alongside the ability for players to select up to three treasures they wish to receive, with a higher probability of receiving one of them. Festive characters Carol Cookie and Sherbet Cookie have been added. Carol takes on the appearance of a cookie adorned with Christmas Tree-styled icing, with the quote “Love and peace is greater than the sword!” Despite this, the Epic Healer Cookie also offers the “Song of Destruction” which deals damage to the enemy while granting allies a critical hit buff and reducing cool time simultaneously if there are fewer than two allies, including herself. Her usual “Song of Joy” restores her allies’ HP and increases their critical strike chance and critical hit damage.

Sherbet takes on a far more icy appearance. While less festive, this Super Epic Ranged Cookie seems quite interesting from a Cookie Run: Kingdom lore perspective. After almost disappearing due to an illness, he has transformed into a Frost Spirit thanks to Cotton Cookie. He also offers a skill that summons 15 frost shards to attack enemies in order of attack power. When hit by the ice crystals, targets suffer from frosting effects, amplified debuffs, and also take damage.

The Tray of Sweet Chaos sees an expansion from 150 to 250 trays with the option to jump past the trays that players have already cleared. This update is perfect for players who have exhausted the previous challenge. The Sugar Gnomes’ Holiday Cake Shop takes a bit more of a relaxed approach to gameplay, with players making cakes for different Cookies’ orders, somewhat akin to an Overcooked style minigame, though hopefully not as difficult as some levels of Overcooked.

On November 29, the official Cookie Run: Kingdom Twitter also posted a teaser image for the upcoming BTS costumes, which received over 13,000 likes and 4000 retweets. It’s fair to say that fans are eager to see the cookie boy band get dressed up in costumes themed to the songs "Mikrokosmos" and "Yet To Come." Given the global popularity of both BTS and Cookie Run: Kingdom, the collaboration continues to act as a kind of cultural ambassador for Korea.

Cookie Run: Kingdom is available now for mobile devices.
