With a handful of items that fill the same role, only improving at higher costs for each item or emote, ranking the categories of how useful and necessary each item is can be a matter of properly balancing budgets and profits for each video posted to Spooktube. Even with so many options to spend money on, the best item categories easily separate from the generally worse.

5 Misc

Definitely Miscellaneous

Content Warning SpookTube

Currently the smallest item category in Content Warning, the Misc subset certainly feels miscellaneous. Offering just one item in the form of the Party Popper, it's definitely the cheapest set of items in the game, though it is also definitely an equal transaction given what the Party Popper does, or rather, doesn't do.

As players might assume, the Party Popper explodes and shoots out confetti when used. While this sounds appropriate and isn't too bad for a $5 item, the fact that this is all the item offers does leave something to be desired. With every other category offering multiple items and upgrades, the Misc category definitely sits low on the list of necessary items. Again, with the entire Misc category costing players a whole $5, it isn't a very painful investment.

4 Emotes

Cosmetic Cash

Content Warning Emotes

With the game focused entirely around making viral videos on Spooktube for doing absurdly dangerous dives, the Emote category offers a surprising amount of value. Beyond the entertainment of playing with friends and emoting at the best and worst times, using emotes in videos increases their view count.

Throwing items in Content Warning is a simple and effective way to help yourself survive and rise to internet fame.

Even with Emotes boosting views, the general cost of the Emote category is the only true downside compared to other items. While several Emotes cost the same as several items in other categories, the price increase is better suited for players that have already bought other items and have cash to spare. With an Emote for flipping the bird being tied as the second-most expensive item in Content Warning currently, the Emote category is certainly useful, but isn't entirely necessary until after a certain point.

3 Gadgets

The Start Of The Useful Items

Content Warning Gadgets

Since the entirety of Content Warning centers around recording players in dangerous situations with monsters of all kinds, the need for Gadgets is pretty high. Offering tools that improve view counts and player safety and survival, the Gadgets available for players are tremendously useful in every way that counts.

For players looking to improve their videos and up their views on Spooktube, the Clapper Mics, and Sound Player are perfect ways to increase the quality needed to reach viral status. Additionally, for players who want to survive their monster encounters, the Goo Ball and Shock Stick offer temporary stuns that allow for escape.

2 Lights

The Importance Of Sight

Content Warning Lights

With a plethora of monsters and a general layer of darkness flooding the Old World, the usefulness of Flashlights cannot be understated. Although there's several better upgrades for Flashlights as players earn more money, having any Flashlight at all is helpful. Offering a rechargeable and obviously handy bonus for players diving into the depths, Flashlights are a staple for any video, if for no other reason than to see what's happening.

If you want to enjoy Content Warning together with your friends, you should learn how to host and play with them. Here's all the instructions.

The Lights category mostly includes Flashlights, but it also includes a Flare, which can be useful for scaring off specific monsters. Overall, Lights allow players to actually see through the various spooky locations explored in the videos, and allows them to possibly spot monsters before anything gets too dangerous. With so many Flashlights and a clear price jump between them, the effectiveness of upgrading what Flashlights players use definitely makes these items a priority.

1 Medical

Staying Alive

Content Warning Medical

Perhaps the most important items to obtain in Content Warning are Medical items. Either item in the Medical category is extremely useful, no matter how prepared the player or players are. Not especially expensive and clearly helpful, the Hugger and Defibrillator items are perfect for anyone trying to get the best videos.

With the Hugger functioning as a first-aid kit, and the Defibrillator reviving teammates, having these items provides some level of safety in the Old World against all the monsters that are perfect for the scariest videos. While not offering offensive options like the Goo Ball and Shock Stick in the Gadgets section, or defensive options like the Flashlights and Flare, the Medical items are great for every level of player that can afford them, letting the video session last even longer.
