After finding great success with both the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, it seems Capcom plans on producing even more Resident Evil remakes in the future. And while many fans would have guessed that Code: Veronica would be next up when it comes to Resident Evil remakes, it's been leaked that Capcom is working on a Resident Evil 4 remake instead.

The Resident Evil 4 remake leak has resulted in some very mixed reactions online. There are some fans who are excited that Capcom is remaking Resident Evil 4, as it's easily one of the most popular games in the franchise. However, there are many others who are upset that Capcom is attempting to remake what many consider to be an untouchable classic. There are also many others who feel slighted that Capcom is seemingly skipping over Code: Veronica to remake Resident Evil 4, as they feel Code: Veronica would be better-serviced by a remake.

This uproar from fans has caused "Code Veronica" to trend on Twitter, with many tweets expressing disappointment that Capcom is apparently skipping over the game.

Perhaps one of the biggest reasons why Capcom's apparent decision to move forward with a Resident Evil 4 remake instead of a Code: Veronica remake is the fact that RE4 has been re-released on basically every gaming platform imaginable. The Resident Evil 4 HD remaster is available on all modern platforms, and there's even a mobile version of the game as well. By comparison, Code: Veronica is available on Xbox One through the Xbox 360 backward compatibility program, and the inferior PS2 version is available on PS4. Overall, it's been re-released far less times than RE4 and is less readily available.

Even though Capcom appears to be pursuing a Resident Evil 4 remake next instead of Code: Veronica, that doesn't mean that the door is completely shut on a Code: Veronica remake at some point. It's clear that Capcom intends on producing more Resident Evil remakes, and when it's done with 4, it seems like Code: Veronica would be the obvious next step. Then again, Capcom could make a Resident Evil Zero remake instead.

Regardless, there should be plenty of Resident Evil projects on the horizon for survival-horror fans to look forward to, including the rumored Resident Evil 8, which is said to be launching at some point in 2021.

Resident Evil - Code: Veronica is available for Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2, PS3, PS4, and Xbox 360.
