There are different weapons players can wield in Code Vein. Some weapons prioritize speed for dexterity builds, while slow, hard-hitting weapons are perfect for strength builds. However, there are some players who might not find these two options appealing. Thankfully, there are halberds for those who want something more balanced to get through this arduous souls-like game.

In this JRPG title, halberds are not as slow or as strong as two-handed weapons, and not as fast as one-handed weapons. They lie in the middle of the spectrum, making them perfect for those who want something that can deal a decent amount of damage without having a slow attack speed. Halberds fall under the same category as polearms in this game, given their similar move sets.

10 Garnet Splitter

Wielding the Garnet Splitter in Code Vein.

The Garnet Splitter is a decent halberd, but it's not nearly as effective as the other halberds in the game. It's also located in an area found during the later sections of game, when players will likely have found weapons with better stats and special attacks.

Considering that, it's likely that not too many players will wield this weapon. However, those who want to try it can find it in the Ridge of Frozen Souls. It's in a chest, close to a Brute, past the Iceless Falls Mistle. Players may find its special heavy attacks useful in certain situations.

9 Dammerung

Dammerung halberd used by Io.

The Dammerung's damage value isn't too high. However, its lack of attack power is compensated by its incredible special attack. The Dammerung's heavy attack fires a projectile at enemies. When the heavy attack is charged, it causes an explosion that damages nearby enemies. On top of that, it grants a 25% defense buff that lasts for 1 minute.

Those who find the Dammerung's damage value too low can still make use of the weapon for its defense buff. Once triggered, the damage buff will remain even though the player changes weapons. The Dammerung's original owner is Io, one of the game's partners. This weapon is obtained by exchanging 50 trading points with her.

8 Assassin's Sickle

Using the Assassin's Sickle in Code Vein.

The Assassin's Sickle is far from the strongest halberd in Code Vein. However, it can still be pretty effective if it is fully leveled up. On top of that, its heavy attacks come with a water splash effect. Charge the heavy attack, and the player will dash forward while riding the sickle. This attack is the same dash attack used by its original owner, the Invading Executioner.

This weapon's special attack is its greatest strength. It may not have the highest damage of the halberds in the game, but this special dash attack is capable of damaging multiple enemies at once continuously. That alone makes this a weapon worth wielding.

7 Black Halberd

Wielding the Black Halberd in Code Vein.

The Black Halberd is a powerful piece of weaponry. It has a different moveset from the usual halberds in the game. The beginning of its attack chain is a thrust attack, followed by a swipe, and ending with a downward slam.

It has no remarkable special attacks, but the heavy attacks hit hard and are capable of knocking back certain enemies. It also has a higher base damage compared to other halberds. Those who want to wield this can find them as drops from Lost Knights in the City of Falling Flame.

6 Bardiche

Bardiche from Code Vein.

The Bardiche is a long polearm, even longer than some of the other halberds. This means reach will never be a problem with this weapon. It also has a decent damage value. It's perfectly balanced, easy to use, and can last the player until they reach the end, granted they keep upgrading it.

Another thing that's great about this weapon is that it can be acquired very early. It can be found in the Ruined City Center. It's in a chest found after dealing with a Lost Invasion.

5 Lost Bardiche

Lost Bardiche from Code Vein.

The Lost Bardiche is similar to the Bardiche in design and moveset, except for a few variations. It also has a higher base damage than the Bardiche. However, its strength and dexterity scaling are rated as C and D+, respectively, whereas the Bardiche is at C+ with both stats.

The Lost Bardiche also has a faster attack speed compared to the base version. Its special attack is a powerful lunge instead of the base version's jump attack. Players who want this weapon can find them as drops from Losts found in many areas such as the Ruined City Underground. This halberd is fairly common and easy to farm for.

4 Blood Mist Halberd

Wielding the Blood Mist Halberd in Code Vein.

The Blood Mist Halberd is exclusively found in the Frozen Empress DLC. That means those who want to use it must first purchase this DLC. Then, they must complete the "Poseidon's Right Hand" trial to earn it.

This halberd's moveset is similar to those of other poleaxes in the game. Its charged heavy attack can grant the player Frost damage. This buff will remain even after the player swaps weapons. The halberd also has an impressive damage value, making it both powerful physically and impressive in terms of the buff it grants.

3 Queenslayer Halberd

Wielding the Queenslayer Halberd in Code Vein.

The Queenslayer Halberd is a powerful halberd with high base damage. It has decent scaling for both strength and dexterity builds. On top of all that, its attack speed is not too slow, which is impressive given its attack value. This halberd is fairly straightforward. It prioritizes function over bells and whistles. It has no unique heavy attacks or charged attacks, and it doesn't really need them.

Those who simply want to plow their way through the game with a powerful weapon can very much take advantage of this. This can be acquired in a chest found in a storehouse in the Memories of [Player Character Name] level. This storehouse is can be opened with the Storage Key.

2 Sunset Halberd

Wielding the Sunset Halberd in Code Vein.

The Sunset Halberd is one of the most powerful weapons in Code Vein. It has the highest base damage of all the halberds. Its moveset is fairly basic for the weapon type. Like many of the halberds in the game that have high damage value, it doesn't have any unique attacks. Its main strength is powerful attacks.

This weapon is very similar to the Queenslayer Halberd. It has a similar moveset, except for its charged heavy attack. It's also slower compared to the aforementioned halberd. The Sunset Halberd can be easily found in the Ruined City Center and the City of Falling Flame.

1 Obliterator Axe

Swinging the Obliterator Axe in Code Vein.

The Obliterator Axe is a very impressive and powerful weapon. Although it's called an axe, it is classified as a halberd and has the moveset of a standard halberd. Despite its immense damage value and heavy appearance, the Obliterator Axe swings fast. This allows players to constantly hit the game's toughest enemies and bosses with ease.

The Obliterator Axe has an A scaling for the strength stat. This means strength builds can get more out of this weapon than dexterity builds. This is dropped by the Argent Wolf Berserker in the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood.

Code Vein was released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows on September 2019.
