The final mission of Act 2 in Modern Warfare Zombies will have players deploy to an aether-infested region of Urzikstan to test a new device developed by Dr. Jansen, the Neutralizer. If successful, this device could be the first step towards stopping the spread of the aether storm plaguing Urzikstan. Players will need to secure the area in order to airdrop the device into the mission area, and safely escort it through the horde in order to complete Act 2 and take a step closer to stopping the infection in Modern Warfare Zombies.

Deploying to the Test Site

mwz - shepherd - exfil

With the Shepherd story mission active, players will want to deploy to Urzikstan and head to the marked exfil location on their tac-map. The exfil location will be easily identified with the same symbol as the Extraction story mission. Hovering over the icons will provide players with text confirmation of the proper story mission exfil. Players will want to consider acquiring most of the perks (if not all) in preparation for this story mission, which will task players with an extended escort mission requiring defense against a Mega Abomination boss monster. Additionally, at least level 2 Pack-a-Punch and rare or higher rarity is recommended before leaving Urzikstan.

After loading into the Shepherd mission area (a sectioned-off area consisting of Levin Resorts), players will want to quickly depart from the drop helicopter, as the mercenary SAM sites nearby are preparing to fire. Drop to the beach below, and push up the beach through the mercenaries. Beware of the proximity mines scattered across the beach. If players head to the left after leaving the helicopter and approaching the beach, taking cover behind the stone structures, they can easily approach the base of the main resort building where the SAM missiles are located. There may be two or three mercenaries in this area, but if players stick to the left and travel through the concrete structures, they will easily avoid most conflict, with the biggest threat to players while on the beach being the snipers posted on the resort building.

Players should focus on quickly storming the beach and using the ascension line to reach the ledge where the snipers are posted - allowing players to flank and easily take the snipers down. Players can dart up the stairs to the roof over the resort pool from this ledge and grab another ascension line to the very top of the building.

In order to deploy the Neutralizer, players will need to destroy the two SAM missiles on the roof of the resort - players need only approach the missiles and interact to plant the bombs, but the defending Terminus forces on the roof will be relentless. There are explosive barrels littered across the rooftop - these can be a huge advantage to players, who can quickly detonate barrels to take out multiple mercenaries. There are rooms on the roof where players can duck inside to get out of the chaos and away from any barrels about to explode too close.

Dispatch the mercenaries and push towards the missiles - once a bomb is planted, players should quickly move out of the blast radius to avoid losing armor plates. When both SAM missiles are destroyed, the helicopter will approach with the Neutralizer to be air-dropped onto the location. Players can parachute from the roof to the drop site - clear out any deployed mercenaries and surrounding zombies to clear the drop site for the Neutralizer. Once the majority of enemies in the area are eliminated, players will receive the updated objective on the left of the HUD to begin the escort mission.

Escorting the Neutralizer

Once players have eliminated all mercenaries and reduced the horde nearby, the Neutralizer will be dropped in at the location marked with red/brown smoke. Approach the back of the Neutralizer and interact with the button on the left to start the escort.

Players will not have to hold the Neutralizer at various points, like a typical Escort contract, but will have to escort the Neutralizer for an extended distance while fighting off Tier II Zombies and Specials/Elites. Players will have a much easier time with the escort if they simply ride on top of the Neutralizer while eliminating enemies. While players will have a temporary reprieve from damage on top of the Neutralizer, but if players fail to kill enemies in a timely manner, eventually zombies will begin to gather and some will begin throwing chunks of flesh at players. If too many zombies group up, players can immediately get downed by the rapid throwing of flesh, so players will need to stay on top of eliminating the crowd that is not run over and destroyed by the Neutralizer itself.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies - How to Get Cyphered Tablet if it Despawns

Missed the Cyphered Tablet for a mission in Operation Deadbolt? Here's how Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies players can find another.

Towards the end of the escort process, players will have to take the Neutralizer through a mercenary camp that is heavily guarded - watch for the chainlink fenced area and, as the Neutralizer approaches, drop the mercenaries in the area as quickly as possible. The Neutralizer will quickly turn and navigate away from the camp, but players can be quickly downed by the mercenaries if players fail to reduce the number of shooting enemies.

Once escorted to the Test Site, interact with the Neutralizer to begin charging it up. Players will have to hold the area and defend the Neutralizer while it charges, a process that takes approximately 90 seconds. Once players activate the Neutralizer, a Mega Abomination will spawn and begin attempting to destroy all players and prevent the Neutralizer from destroying the nearby aetherium crystals. Players do not need to destroy the Mega Abomination, and they simply survive long enough to activate the Neutralizer and end the mission.

Want to get the indestructible Blood Burner motorcycle in MWZ? Here’s how

Fight or Flight

If players choose to fight the Mega Abomination, they should at least have Pack-a-Punch level II with Epic or Legendary rarity, although Pack-a-Punch level III is preferred. Killstreaks like the Juggernaut are also excellent options for fighting the Mega Abomination, a massive, aggressive tank. Players will be able to do the most damage to the Abomination by aiming for its open mouth and using high penetration damage weapons like Assault, Marksman, Battle, or Sniper Rifles. As players damage the Abomination, they will begin to destroy each of its three heads until it is finally destroyed. If players do not have the damage output to fight the Abomination, their focus should shift to evading the Abomination while keeping the horde off the Neutralizer.

If running from the Mega Abomination, players will mostly need to worry about the Abomination's lightning attack. With the Stamin-Up perk, players will be able to keep a good distance away from the Abomination, even if it temporarily closes the gap with its charge attack. Despite this, the lightning attack cannot be outrun and can be fatal, so players will want to position an obstacle between them and the Abomination when it stops to line up its lightning blast. While running from the monster, take a big circle around the trees and crystals, all of which make great obstacles against the lightning. If players do not have any Cymbal Monkeys or Kazimir Devices to quickly drop the horde when the Neutralizer gets swarmed, players will need to make an active effort to take out as many zombies as possible when running from the Abomination in a direction that has a line of sight of the Neutralizer. Do not tunnel focus on killing zombies, as pausing to shoot for too long will allow the Abomination to completely close the gap and begin stomping on players (literally).

After the Neutralizer charges for 90 seconds, players will receive a notice to detonate the device - watch for the mission tag on the upper left of the HUD to change from Defend the Neutralizer to Detonate the Neutralizer. Once the device is ready, approach it and interact to detonate the charge and destroy the crystals in the surrounding area.

Once the device is activated, the screen will fade white and the story cutscene will begin - the Shepherd mission will be completed and players will receive the mission rewards.
