One of the new contracts debuting in Modern Warfare Zombies is the Spore Control Contract. Requiring players to destroy several spores scattered nearby, players will have to fight off the defending horde that will spawn to protect the spores while deploying inhibitors to break the hard, bulletproof shell protecting the spores. If players can survive the horde and take out all the spores, they will receive a huge essence bonus in-game along with a reward rift that can give players a variety of rewards that can be secured via exfil.

Completing the Spore Control Contract

After acquiring the Spore Control contract phone, navigate to the marked infested area. There will be six spores in the area that players will need to destroy while fighting off the hordes - players will not be able to destroy the spores until an inhibitor is deployed nearby to minimize the aether protecting the spores and destroy the outer protective shell. Make way to the marked toolbox, typically in the center of the spore-infested area, to find the inhibitors.

Inhibitors will occupy a player's tactical slot in their loadout, meaning any stun grenades or cymbal monkeys will need to be dropped in order to pick up the inhibitors. Players can store additional inhibitors if there is available space in the rucksack - this is incredibly useful for solo players who will have to destroy all six spores unaided, as they can run from spore to spore, dropping an inhibitor at every spore, then circling back to destroy them.

The moment players begin deploying inhibitors and damaging the spores, zombies and special enemies will spawn and begin to defend the area. Players will need to be prepared to hold the area while waiting for the inhibitors to destroy the protective shell, or run in a coordinated pattern with squadmates - be careful not to lead a train of zombies directly in the path of a teammate! A single inhibitor will take a few moments to destroy the shell, but multiple inhibitors can be deployed to decrease the waiting time. If three squadmates are able to simultaneously deploy inhibitors on the same spore, the shell will be destroyed almost immediately, allowing the spore to be completely destroyed in less than five seconds. This is a great strategy in larger teams, as players can quickly move from spore to spore, destroying a spore and eliminating any spawning zombies.

Once the sixth spore is destroyed, a reward rift will spawn, emitting a small aether blast that will eliminate some of the surrounding zombies. Be sure that all zombies are eliminated before attempting to claim the contract rewards.

Best Weapons and Equipment for Spore Control

mw3 - weapon camos - lachmann sub

Since players will want to be able to quickly eliminate the spores once vulnerable, rapid-firing close-quarters weapons excel when it comes to tackling the Spore Control contract. Due to the number of zombies that spawn to defend the spores, it can be difficult to weave shots through the horde and hit spores from longer distances. Shotguns like the Haymaker or the Riveter, or SMGs like any of the Lachmann or Striker models, are excellent for their high mobility and high rate of DPS at close range - allowing players to dodge the zombies to get close to the spore once vulnerable, quickly blast down the health of the spore, then quickly move on before the horde is able to swarm onto players. Especially for solo players, who will not have any other squadmates to help distract the horde, being able to quickly drop the health bar of the spore is crucial - do not tunnel focus on firing at the spore and allow the horde to overwhelm you.

For equipment, players will not be able to rely effectively on tactical equipment as the inhibitors will occupy the tactical slot. Explosives like semtex, proximity mines, or scatter mines can be highly effective at destroying vulnerable spores when deployed in proximity to the spore while also aiding in keeping the zombie crowd managed. Players can also use the gas-tipped arrows with the Crossbow to temporarily confuse pursuing zombies, allowing a moment to line up shots at vulnerable spores.

Best Weapon Mods for Spore Control

mwz - spore control - destroy spores

For ammo mods, players should consider Brain Rot or Dead Wire. The turned zombies that are created by Brain Rot can not only help keep the nearby zombie population low but also provide a distraction for zombies, causing them to chase the turned zombie rather than players. This can pull a horde off of players, providing a window to run to the next vulnerable spore and quickly shoot its health down without zombies tapping on the back.

Dead Wire can also provide players brief breaks from the horde if the ammo mod can be triggered on zombies when grouped up. Dead Wire can only affect a few zombies, however, ultimately making it less effective than Brain Rot when completing Spore Control.

Players can also get good use out of Cryo Freeze if they are using an evasion strategy to complete to contract. Run

Best Perks for Spore Control

modern warfare 3 jugger-nog perk-a-cola

Since players will have to deal with numerous pursuing enemies on top of trying to apply damage to the spores, Speed Cola can be a huge benefit to players who are working on this contract. If players use most of a magazine to drop a spore, and then find zombies are directly behind them, being able to rapidly reload and begin shooting at the zombies can be the difference in survival, especially in higher tier areas. Jugger-Nog and Quick Revive will allow players to hold position one-half second longer when shooting at spores, with rapid regeneration once players turn to run.

Solo players should definitely consider Stamin-Up before attempting this contract - since solo players will find the most efficient way to complete this contract is to drop one inhibitor on all six spores in a circle then run back past the spores and destroy them. Solo players should try to avoid and corral the spawning horde rather than fight. Destroy all the spores and spawn the reward rift, letting the small aether burst from the rift destroy most of the chasing zombies.
