From its humble beginnings on YouTube Red in 2018 to being brought into the Netflix stable in 2020, Cobra Kai continues to be one of the most well-written shows out there. Its masterful portrayal of where the beloved characters last seen in the 80s are today is unmatched and the fine line between drama and comedy is balanced with expertise.
Each season manages to top what came before, and Season 4 ended with an absolute shocker of a finale, Miyagi-Do is no more, Kreese was arrested and Miguel left for Mexico, Cobra Kai Season 5 may well be the most explosive season yet with plenty of unanswered questions.
10 Will We See Mike Barnes?
The next hotly rumored cameo to arrive in Cobra Kai is none other than Mike Barnes. Mike, played by Sean Kanan in The Karate Kid 3, was a karate bad boy who Cobra Kai hired to take on Daniel in the tournament. Mike was contacted by none other than Terry Silver who may just need some help in the valley in Season 5.
With Chozen helping out Daniel and Miyagi-do karate, it would make complete sense for Silver to give his old protégée a call for backup this season.
9 Is Kreese Locked Away For Good?
Season 4 ended with some huge consequences for the characters, one of the biggest bombshells was when John Kreese himself was on the receiving end of some mind games and betrayal.
The closing scenes of the finale had Silver and Kreese celebrating the tournament victory Cobra Kai had achieved. Silver tells Kreese that he is his weakness, and we discover that John has been framed for the assault on Stingray. Kreese is arrested and taken away by the police, leaving Terry as the sole owner of the Cobra Kai franchise, perhaps with a new sensei along for the ride.
8 Will Tory Stay With Cobra Kai?
Tory is one of Cobra Kai’s most loyal and talented students. We see her achieve victory in the final of the All-Valley tournament beating Sam LaRusso. During the fight an accidental elbow damages Sam's eye, Silver tells Tory to target the other eye, disgusted with the suggestion of cheating she listens instead to Kreese, who tells her to win however she feels is the right way.
After defeating Sam, Tory overhears Silver discussing the bribe he has paid to win the tournament, which by the look on Tory’s face after hearing this, will not sit well with the champion.
7 Is Miyagi-Do Truly Finished?
At the All-Valley tournament, Terry Silver and Daniel LaRusso made a bet. The bet they made involved the fate of the dojo and would change life in the valley forever. Silver plans to franchise Cobra Kai through the valley using his vast wealth and for Daniel never to teach another student.
With Cobra Kai cheating by bribing the referees, Daniel may not fully uphold his end of the deal. Chozen has arrived to help and restore Miyagi-Do by defeating Cobra Kai once and for all.
6 Has Kenny Gone Too Far?
Kenny Payne portrayed by Dallas Dupree Young was one of season 4s stand-out characters. Kenny was a quiet kid who liked video games and cosplay. Relentless bullying throughout the early part of this season saw Kenny turn to his brother's friend Robby for help. Robby trains Kenny with good intentions, however, it isn’t long before Cobra Kai has its fangs into young Kenny and twists his thinking with their ruthless ways.
Going from victim to bully was a surprising turn of events, and to see such drastic personality changes throughout this season left a lingering doubt of nice Kenny ever returning.
5 Will Anthony Join Miyagi-Do?
Anthony LaRusso has not had the best of times in Cobra Kai so far. From spoiled brat beginnings to horrible school bullies, Anthony found himself on the receiving end of bullying at the end of season 4. Way back in season 2 Anthony refused to join Miyagi-Do instead of summer camp and in season 4 we saw him join the dojo but cheat the training his father gave him by hiring a man to clean the cars for him.
After his nasty beating at the hands of Kenny after the tournament, perhaps he will rethink his membership status next season.
4 Daniel Vs Johnny - Who Would Win?
From the first episode of Cobra Kai, the most built-up but unresolved match-up is, of course, Johnny and Daniel. Sure, there has been teasing of an actual fight, but none of these has ever come to fruition. What needs to happen to settle it all for once is an actual-sanctioned fight between the two.
The original movie saw Daniel take victory from Johnny in the All-Valley tournament with, what Johnny considered an illegal move; the crane kick. It's only fair that an actual rematch is organized to determine once and for all who the better fighter is.
3 Where Is Julie Pierce?
Mike Barnes is the most rumored cameo for season 5 of Cobra Kai but hot on the heels of Mike is Julie Pierce. Played by Hilary Swank in the fourth Karate Kid movie, The Next Karate Kid, Julie was Mr. Miyagi's student after Daniel had left.
Having Julie show up to have a showdown with Daniel to see just who the best Miyagi-trained student was would be the stuff of legends. Seeing the two team up to take on Cobra Kai together would be even better, having her playable in Fortnite would be the icing on the cake.
2 Who Is Miguel’s Father?
During Cobra Kai we have seen Johnny and Miguel become close, even to the extent of an almost father-son relationship at times. We have heard that Miguel’s father is not a nice man and Carmen left him after finding out what kind of person he was and the business he was in.
At the end of season 4, Miguel ran away to Mexico in search of his father to discover where he came from. Season 5 should answer this question definitively and will almost certainly involve Johnny as he set off after Miguel to bring him home.
1 What Is Left Of Eagle Fang?
When Johnny lost Cobra Kai to Kreese he decided to found Eagle Fang as an alternative for students who still wanted him as their sensei. Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang have a truce in season 4 and the students learn from conflicting masters. They enter the All-Valley with a common goal - to defeat Cobra Kai and end Silver's tyranny of the valley.
With Johnny following Miguel to Mexico and their loss at the tournament, what becomes of Eagle Fang now, is a mystery that remains unsolved.
