New 3D platformer Clive 'N' Wrench has finally narrowed down its release month after nearly 12 years in development. 3D platformers were once some of the most popular video games in the industry, and while there are still major new 3D platformers released today, it's safe to say that the genre's glory days are behind it. With AAA game developers busy working on other projects, indie studios have often taken the initiative to release new 3D platformers, taking inspiration from the classics of the Nintendo 64 and PlayStation 2 eras.

One such new 3D platformer is Clive 'N' Wrench, which is being made by Dinosaur Bytes and has been in development for about 12 years. Drawing inspiration from games like Jak and Daxter, Clive 'N' Wrench looks like it will especially appeal to those who fondly remember PS2-era 3D platformers. And while a specific release date still has yet to be nailed down, fans now at least know the month they can expect to play the game.

Dinosaur Bytes and publisher Numskull Games have released a pair of new videos for Clive 'N' Wrench, with one announcing the new release month and the other showcasing some of the gameplay. In the release month video, it's revealed that the latest delay was spent making two more hub worlds, and that the new release month is February 2023.

The new Clive 'N' Wrench gameplay trailer, meanwhile, showcases classic 3D platformer gameplay, with the protagonists spinning through enemies, exploring various themed worlds, interacting with anthropomorphic animal NPCs, and completing various platforming challenges. The trailer ends with confirmation that Clive 'N' Wrench is also coming to PS4 and PS5. Fans also get a look at the game's physical edition, which comes with a special moves mini-booklet, as well as the Collector's Edition, which comes some more goodies.

Those that spring for the Clive 'N' Wrench CE will get a fridge magnet featuring the title characters, 16 collectible art cards, a full color game manual, and the original soundtrack CD. Instruction manuals for games are a lost art, and the inclusion of one with Clive 'N' Wrench should go a long way in solidifying the nostalgic vibe that the game is going for.

It looks like February 2023 should be an exciting times for 3D platformer fans, as Clive 'N' Wrench isn't the only 3D platformer launching that month. Fans of the genre can also look forward to Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, which is scheduled to launch on the Nintendo Switch that month.

Clive 'N' Wrench launches February 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Switch.
